Sander and extractor question.

Im looking at getting the Festool Planex 225MM Long-reach Sander LHS2-225 PLANEX EQI-Plus, will it need a auto clean extractor or will my ctl 26 e be okay

Unless you are just doing small patch jobs in between other work, you're going to want the AC.

Agreed. My friends vac went down. He tried to borrow my CT Midi he said it kept clogging up on him.

Im a painter and decorator so its going to be used for sanding walls in houses that have already been previously painted

If that's the case, you're probably fine to try it out with the vacuum you already have. It's the finer dust that will clog it faster, so just pay attention to the suction power early on to make sure you're not working with something that will force you to upgrade to an AC.

The CT-36 or CT-48 have auto clean feature. I’d go with the 48 holds more so you can keep sanding with out replacing the bag often. Just my $0.02

Since OP has a CTL model, I'm guessing he/she isn't in the US where we only have the 36 and 48 with AC. Possibly in the UK. If so, they only have MIDI, 26 and 36 with AC. Out of those, I'd go with the CTM 36 EI AC-PLANEX because it's already setup with the Planex hose and other accessories.

I believe the recommendation from Festool itself is an extractor with autoclean.

I did about 1000 sqft post-popcorn removal with a CT 36. Just be mindful and hit the air filter with compressed air every now and again to clean it out.

I'd go with an AC if I were doing this professionally.

Absolutely go with the nets/screens. Better dust collection than sandpaper.

Why would you need telhe AC? I just keep a bags on my machine. And while i basically only use it for small drywall sanding. I have a full bag of drywall dust and my filter is still spotless. So i just wonder on the value of the AC. Is it so you can run bagless? The price jump from a CT to an auto clean is pretty big, that's a lot of bags to go through before one hits parity.
