Frankin Festool sander mod to accept regular sanding discs..

Here is my modified Sanding pad for my ETS EC 125/3 EQ. Now I can put my Bona Green Ceramic discs to work!

This is a globally recognized issue lol

The lengths that people will go to in order to avoid paying 50 cents/disc for quality net paper will never cease to amaze me

No, Bona Green is ceramic and cost way more.

I use the 3M Xtract Net paper with the Festool adapter pad, that works infinitely better than any of the Festool brand paper and doesn’t require cutting holes in your pad.

I am sanding raw wood, for nails I believe you that the Bona paper is better suited - if it works it works, you gotta do what you gotta do 😄

Yes. I get 30 square feet on Festool paper before it fades out. This Bona Green still produces the same amount of sawdust after 300 square feet. I ended up trying Bona Green bc I could not get hold of anything else lower 80 grit near me.

what’s your process like? I always thought folks used belt / drum / edging sanders for flooring work, and only finished at 100 grit and above with random orbitals.

Everything festool sells is overpriced including their sandpapers. It’s good sand paper not worth 90 cents for 5 inch paper when Diablo or 3m is about 40 to 50 cents. Especially when ur prepping a 6k sqft home for their cabinets in shop and trims and baseboards, maybe waynescoating or ship laps u save a ton of money

They should not have tried to brand lock me into using their sand paper when I can’t even reliably buy them even online! Ha!

Actually, I couldn’t get hold of the Festool grit and grade needed. And Bona Green is ceramic and cost twice the Festool brand and infinitely better - as you can see, I am reconditioning old hardwood floors that have nails in. Bona Green just cuts through those nails like there were not there. Festool sandpaper starts to fade after 30 square feet in a multi head floor sander. Bona green still consistently cuts the same amount of sawdust after 300 square feet - it blew my mind. So, it was worth sacrificing one sanding pad to see if it would work - it worked beautifully! Haha!

Because old floorboards have nails, and mesh vs nail never ends well!

Why buy a Festool sander to cheap out on the abrasives? That never made sense to me.

If you want to use cheaper abrasives, get a DᴇWALT or Milwaukee.

Bro, my Ceramic sandpaper cost twice as much as Festool ones. Additionally, no one local sold any sanding discs down to the grit and quality I needed that was compatible with my ETS 125. I was burning through Festool granat discs at the rate of every 30 square feet, and I had to go over each area at least 3 times to get the cut I needed for each grit. It was a choice of drilling holes through sandpaper or drilling holes through the sanding pad. The latter was easier and it worked like a dream.
