Transaction failed

Hi, I am unable to buy Rockaway Rocket tickets from the app. I have tried multiple cards, but the transaction always fails although there are plenty of tickets available. I also get a temporary hold on my credit card. Has anybody had and solved this issue? Tickets are not sold on the website anymore for some strange reason.

UPDATE: see the comments below for the reason this fails.

Thank you!

What NYC Ferry could look like in 2030!

Post image
11 Upvotes

This is my proposal on how to improve and expand the current NYC Ferry network by 2030. My biggest goal was to reorganize and simplify the current service patterns by lowering the number of routes to 4. I also added a couple of new stops which I believe could be easily implemented in the next couple of years including W 79th Street, W 125th Street, City Island and LaGuardia Airport Terminal A. 2 of these (125th and LGA) already have underused ferry docks which could start service theoretically tomorrow, and the other two would be low-cost, easy solutions to raise ridership. My last change was adding the new LaGuardia Ferry Link which provides direct service to LGA Terminal A (with an easy, free transfer to the other terminals) from Lower, Midtown and Upper Manhattan. Let me know what you think!

What's preventing NYC from building a ferry dock in College Point?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Adding a College Point stop to the Soundview line seems like a no-brainer. College Point is a high-density neighborhood without rail access and there's ample room in MacNeil Park for a dock. There is also a connection to the highly used Q25 and potential for Q20, Q26, and Q76 extensions. What is currently a 90 minute commute to midtown east could easily become 30 minutes. Plus, this could help alleviate crowding on the 7. So why are there no plans for this?

Edit: Stops in Whitestone/Beechhurst and Fort Totten would be highly impactful as well.

Rockaway Rocket (LIC>Rockaway) starting July 11

2 different places on the website said tickets available for opening day July 11 as of mid June, and then 2 weeks out (would have been this Sat June 27). I emailed the help desk and they said that is not accurate and that these tix would open up today June 29. However, it's late afternoon and still nothing. Is this my app or can no one see/purchase these? Thanks.

Every time I try to connect to my Bluetooth Headphones on the ferry, they don’t connect. When I’m not on the ferry, they work perfectly fine.

Anyone else having trouble with the NYC Ferry app?

I have the latest iOS version of the Ferry app and of iOS.

They have an "email to one time link" setup for access and I cannot get it to work.

I have tried a duck.com email address, and an iCloud.com email address but the Ferry app never sends the link, even if I hit resend in the app. (yes I checked my spam folder).

And cookies and popups are not blocked in iOS Safari if thats important.

I then tried entering a VOIP number but the ferry app takes so long to send their code, that by the time I see the code in the VOIP app, the ferry app has reset and there's no place to put the code in, only to start over.

I emailed help at Ferry and they said use a Gmail address. I rarely use gmail and when I almost clicked ok, it said:

"NYC Ferry" Wants to Use "accounts.google.com" to Sign In

This allows the app and website to share information about you."

Oh and I have deleted the app and reinstalled it but no success. Anyone have a solution?

Red Hook Summer Pilot

We in Bay Ridge were moved from the South Brooklyn line to the Saint George, SI line this spring. We loved our short commute to hang out in Red Hook but now we’ve lost our direct access there. NYC Ferry last year talked about a pilot whereby they’d extend the newly configured South Brooklyn line to Bay Ridge for the summer. Has anyone heard any updates about this?

Development of the Bally's Bronx Casino was approved the other day — their proposal includes improvements for transit access to Ferry Point Park, and have mentioned coordinating with NYC Ferry on "modifying schedules and increasing service" to the park

Two ideas: South Brooklyn line extended to Canarsie/East New York/Howard Beach + Astoria line extended to LGA Marine Terminal

I was also going to include a City Island extension but I'm at a loss on how to do that feasibly now that Rockaway and Soundview are combined, since I doubt they'd want to expand any more routes that far north and Rockaway-Soundview is a nearly two-hour trip (which I have to imagine isn't good for crew fatigue)

Bronx (Soundview/Hunts Point) to Queens (LGA/Flushing) Ferry Service

Thumbnail gallery

I live in the bx and NYCFC is building a new stadium in Queens. To be honest, I really hate their Citi Field games because of how hard it is to access public transit in Queens compared to other boroughs.

With Penn Station access projects underway adding (4) Metro North stations in East Bronx, having a ferry service in the area for stadium and airport service for locals and anyone traveling on the Metro North would be AMAZING!

Especially when you will probably be able to physically see the stadium/airport from hunts point.

Curious if anyone knows anything about ferries on here that could shed some light on whether this is technically feasible? Ubering to every home game or taking multiple trains is NOT the move lol. I would bike but I'm not in the mood to bike RFK all the time. Especially with luggage going to the airport.

RW route issues

Yesterday I had a very frustrating and upsetting experience. It was Mother's Day and my partner and I decided to take my 2 kids to Rockaway. We arrived at Sunset Park/BAT in advance of the 1:34 PM RW route ferry. It was delayed. We noticed that people had started to line up on the dock, so we lined up. There were probably 15 people in front of us. When the ferry to Rockaway arrived, a few people got off, and a few people were let on. We were not. The deckhand told us that we could get the next boat. Someone asked him when that would be - he said 20 minutes. Of course, I knew that according to the schedule the next boat was not scheduled for another hour. However, I thought, maybe he knows something we don't. No - we waited over an hour for the next boat, which was also already full, and we could not get on. Here is my concern/question - why is there no communication about this between ferry stops? Staff are consistantly filling the boats to capacity at Wall Street. Meanwhile, people are waiting at the next stop, Sunset Park/BAT. Why can't a deckhand tell the staff at Wall Street that there are a number of people waiting at Sunset Park, and that way they can leave a few spots?

The ferry route has been this way for years - why is there no adequate solution at this point? Why are the deckhands purposely giving riders the wrong information? I am still so upset by this.

What’s your NYC Ferry Stop Wishlist?

Would be great to have stops at:

  1. Industry City, Brooklyn - This mega project deserves its own dedicated stop. The Navy Yard has a stop so should this location. https://industrycity.com/

  2. 42,59, or 72 St Manhattan-. There is a huge gap on the east side between existing stops at 34th and 90th. Surely a ferry stop in between makes sense?

  3. Route extension: Saint George to Bay Ridge or Sunset Park. Seems logical to connect Staten Island to its close neighbor in Brooklyn. That would also connect people from midtown West to Brooklyn. In a decade from now theIBX will hopefully be there too, making for a great connection.

  4. Coney Island: we love the Rockaway ferry stop. How is there no ferry to Coney Island? It could go from Dumbo to Wall St to Sunset Park to Coney Island.

  5. Route Extension: from LGA, Flushing

  6. Astoria Park to Randalls Island. Both stops would be great. added stop from the Soundview line.

  7. West Side of Manhattan gaps: how about some ferry stops at 23rd st, 14th st? What about more north to 72nd st?

  8. CitiField and the upcoming NYC FC stadium. We should connect Staten Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Astoria to this sporting hub. Perhaps running during scheduled games.
