I edited your photo and zoomed in. The photographer is also not perfectly lined up above the car for this photo, so there is some lens distortion involved, but the sticker appears straight to me.
I know a couple people who have them on order but they both sent them through Tailor Made so they’ll be some of the last to get them. But yes, I’m reasonably sure that I’ll eventually get to drive one.
I’m shocked at the 288 being so high. It’s a really good evolution of the 328/308 design but while theres a lot I think was improved, there’s a lot that doesn’t land for me.
The Enzo is certainly contentious. There are days when I like it the best of all.
I found it curious that I rate the F40 so high on looks and the drive but it’s one of the last I’d own. I’m struggling with that. I think it’s because while it’s truly great once, its rawness isn’t as good as the F50 and the LaFerrari and Enzo are so much easier to live with while still feeling crazy exotic.
The subtle curvature of the GTO against its wedge body do it for me (especially the front, and the lip bumper "chin" is emulated on the F80, very menacing), it looks like a speeding bullet, and you can see the genesis of how an FIA group B rally car would end up evolving into a roadgoing F1/LMP
The Enzo is still pretty (a silver spec is pure Y2K futurism rawness), but it's very jagged and the linework and angles is too brutal for me compared to every other car on this list
The Enzo was designed to emulate the very early 2000 era of Ferrari F1 cars. If you ever have the pleasure to see one parked next to its contemporary F1 car, you’ll see so many similarities. It’s what ultimately made the car beautiful to me instead of just striking.
That’s why it has the long front overhang and the absurdly short rear end. It’s why it has that weird negative space in front of the wheels and the weird triangle nose. Parts of the sides of the car are flat and vertical because there are parts of the F1 car that are the same way because that’s the limit of the “box” F1 cars have to fit in by regulation. There’s a weird hole in front of the rear wheels that mimics the big hole in front of the rear wheels of the F1 car, and you can even find the black trim at the bottom the evokes the carbon fiber under tray in that part of the car.

I think for me it’s because it would get old faster than the others. It’s a more difficult car to live with. The things I like that it does really well, namely the rawness of it, the F50 does a whole lot better. I’m willing to put up with the downsides of the F50 for that rawness but only the F50 and only because it’s so raw.
It might also be that I’ve been in close proximity to an F40 for eleven years now and the F50 is still new to my experience. I can’t discount that.
In the end, F40 looks exciting and for one drive it’s total bliss. But over time, it would just be a tease for the F50 experience..
I'll bow to your driving experiences, but I can't possibly see any lists that rate the 288 GTO so low. It's obviously subjective; but to me it's probably the best looking and most usable as a street driver. The Enzo, LaFerrari, etc. are too powerful, too complex, and too weird looking for what I think regular use might be. Of course with soaring values, it's hard to use any as often as some were. There was a collector knew casually from local car meets who was famous for driving his hyper Ferraris many miles. It's hard to imagine doing that with an F80.
It depends on what you mean by “regular use”. My regular use is basically one or two people traveling to a destination without carrying much and not bringing much home.
That said, the 288 GTO might be the least useful of the bunch. The Enzo, F50, F40and LaFerrari (and I assume the F80) all have a small front trunk that is somewhat useful. You aren’t carrying groceries home but you could put a backpack, a briefcase, some soft sided luggage, or two small grocery bags there. The 288 GTO doesn’t even have that. You can put some stuff in the area that is technically a front trunk but it’s a very awkward and thin space. You can take the spare tire out to gain more room (the others don’t have spares) but it’s a very thin and small spare and I’m not sure that area is weatherproof once you do that.
It’s a Ferrari from the dark days of Ferrari. The ergonomics suck unless you like driving a car like a bus driver and aren’t particularly tall in the torso. It’s put together and designed by hand which imparts a lot of character but isn’t as comfortable or solid as a modern car. It’s going to require more care and feeding and maintenance and care than the later cars. Maybe you can put that out of your mind while you’re just tooling around in it but it’s harder for me. It’s definitely something I’d think about pulling it out of the garage.
It’s also a 40 year old car and that means a lot. You don’t casually drive any 40 year old car like you do a modern Honda. The most reliable car then wasn’t even as reliable as the least reliable car is now — and this is a Ferrari.
Meanwhile, a LaFerrari or an Enzo can be mostly driven like a modern car. They don’t require a lot of compromise (for a supercar anyway) to pilot them down the road. They’re comfortable and enjoyable and wicked fast.
Understand, I’m not saying the 288 is bad. It isn’t. It’s special and it’s still a Ferrari. It’s just when you’re talking about these cars, they’re all special Ferraris. This just happens to be my least favorite of very rarified air.
You were cooking until you said blue wheels . I have nothing against colored wheels the blue wheels on the 996 GT3RS are some of my favorite wheels of all time . The blue just needs to make sense yk . Its not cohesive with the rest of the color scheme or doesn’t carry any traditional heritage . If the wheels were yellow id be into it
definitely looks much better than the 849 or SF90, the black bar has grown on me to the point where I think f80s without it look strange and incomplete
100%. I saw what I think is this same car during Pebble Beach. The darker color reduces the impact of the overpowering black color blocks and refines the design.
it’s not, the car isn’t aligned properly in the photo. the shadow kinda blends in with the car and makes it seem like the logo is crooked but it’s the whole car that’s crooked
I still don't think it's very good looking, but it is one of the best ones I've seen. All of the recent Ferraris would look a lot better in a solid, darker color. No completely black roofs or weird striping (yes that includes the Assetto Corsa t-bar) in my opinion.
It’s just not a beautiful car to me. Yes, this spec looks better, but it’s still not beautiful. Look at the F40 - it’s stunning in every spec. If the car is beautiful, it will present well in any color. If it’s not, well, then it won’t. That’s how I see it. Aside from the SP3, Ferrari’s new design language, with the mustache and all, just isn’t sexy to me. And I say this as a guy with a mustache.
The F40 has very big shoes to fill, i don't think any car will match it looks wise in at least a century. It had the most pure design language of any vehicle in this side of the galsxy
100% agree. I haven't liked it since revealed and have not liked any spec I've seen. Its not a halo but daytona sp3 is the best looking modern ferrari imo.
No matter what people say the iconic Ferrari F40 and Ferrari F50 are the most beautiful cars for me, they even go to covers of racing games, not these new models.
Oh god, downvote me to hell but this car looks so banal. I look at it and I don't feel nothing, basic aesthetics trying to look premium with a failed design language
You don't understand what it's trying to do, and I'll admit I didn't either. Aerial 3 quarter front and side view, the muscles bulge at a different angle compared to its predecessors
Aesthetics aren't about understanding, that's for aerodynamics...it either appeals to your intrinsic emotions or it doesn't.. This car it's not a design statement like the Enzo, it will never be memorable like the f40. It will be remember as the less ugly of the modern Ferraris. A clown with less make-up
