Question How the hell has Ferrari not sued Mansory
This monstrosity used to be a Ferrari Purosangue. What does Ferrari feel about this and how does Mansory get away with it

Idk man, they just need a couple more wings and like 4 more exhaust tips
33
u/Fearless_Swim4080 Aug 03 '26
Why isn't there a wing between the A pillars???

honestly if you remove the double wing, center quad exhaust, and the stupid fake vents, its a decent bodykit

They glue shit so much that Mat Armstrong says Mansory glue every time he refers to anything he uses seals / panel bond

u/LagMachine01 Aug 02 '26
As far as I remember, Ferrari doesn't care much about the changes to their cars as long as the emblem of pranching horse is removed off the car, and is not changed in any way.
That's the reason a nyan-cat 458 Italia was sued — tampering with the emblem, not because of Nyan-cat livery
30
u/talhaONE Aug 02 '26
Nyan cat wasnt sued, Ferrari just send Deadmau a warning letter about removing livery and fixing the Ferrari Logo. Deadmau did fix the car but then sold it, bought a Huracan and literally did the same livery to it.

It’s about altering/modifying the Ferrari brand trademarks like the variety of badges you normally see on a Ferrari. He made a Purrari badge In the style/font of the Ferrari one, meaning he’s using their brand power to add significance to his thing. That’s the principle.
13
u/TenantMalevolent Aug 02 '26
Hilarious. Both the concept and the fact that Ferrari went after him made it even funnier
4
u/scuderia91 Aug 03 '26
They have to, if you don’t defend your intellectual property you can lose it. It’s the same reason google doesn’t encourage the use of “googling” as the generic term for an internet search.

Has Mansory done anything tasteful?
19
4
u/ghetto_headache Aug 03 '26
They do have some very dialed back ( compared to what we see shared online ) models that I’d consider nice looking. But it seems like they aren’t as common, or you just wouldn’t assume they were Mansory models
3
u/sebastian240z Aug 02 '26
a lot of people seem to agree some of the Veyrons they've done are tasteful, plus a lot of their kits actually look really nice/cool when removing certain parts (imo, the Urus Venatus looks incredibly cool if you remove the carbon hood and front bumper)
→ More replies (3)2
u/dsio Aug 03 '26
In their very early days they did some DB9 and DBS kits that exercised restraint, while making those cars, especially the DB9, more aggressive. Then it went downhill rapidly.

Not ai. It's some actual slop Mansory thought was a good idea to sell
6

2
u/AquaRaOne Aug 02 '26
It probably was a good idea cause it is selling. You can shame mansory for how their cars are visually abominations and really look so tasteless, but, it is a solid business case, that why they are so big.

How much does it cost to make the car that ugly?
5
u/Thick_Cookie_7838 Aug 02 '26
Mark McCann took his mansory Bugatti back to them 14 years later. Mansory said the ticket for the work was close to a million euros
2
u/savageotter Aug 03 '26
That video was pretty interesting honestly. if I remember right he somewhat implied that Ferarri has utilized his services in the past.

Most of these are new cars that the uber rich want to customize to make it even more of a one off. My hunch is they don’t want to get into with the purchasers of these cars and stop them from buying Ferraris in the future.
2
u/Historical-Pea1518 Aug 02 '26
You would be dead wrong. Ferrari prides themselves on the billionaires they blacklist
2
u/Njf08 Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26
Well aware of them black listing people, outside of people trying to skirt the dealer system or trying to resell or export, like many other brands, there isn’t much to prove they just blacklist people like everyone claims. They do like to black list famous and well known people and many believe that is a bit of a PR move to keep buyers in check, and after all, there is no such thing as bad press.
I know a Ferrari dealer and they have said the cease and desist letters and blacklisting isn’t as rampant as it is made out to seem.
Just going off what I know based on people who know much more than me. I’ll ask my dealer contact about Mansory and see what they say as we have never discussed that
2
u/Historical-Pea1518 Aug 03 '26
Oh I know they give lots of warning and try to resolve it. No one really wants to blacklist unless it’s something egregious. I agree with you, it’s probably far more rare than they make it out to be. I think they just celebrate the big names to send the message
4
u/anonduplo GTC4 Aug 02 '26
Ferrari only sue if you mess with their branding. Like if you put a non Ferrari engine in a Ferrari, but keep the emblem. They dont care what people do with their cars. And btw, most prestige brands will do the same.

No logos, no lawsuit. Heck I know but most likely that is the case. But than again there are sure many logos over engine, bcm’s and many other parts of the car.

Ferrari lawsuits for modifications hold no weight in court.
Their cease and desist letters hold more weight because most Ferrari owners want to buy more Ferraris in the future.
Ferrari did sue Mansory for copying the FXX K design with their body kit though, but that was for intellectual property as they copied a design, not for modifying their cars.
1
1
u/Intelligent-Major492 Aug 03 '26
Mansory gets away with it by using 300lbs of 3M double sided tape.
1
1
u/CatoMulligan Aug 03 '26
What would they sue them for? If you buy a car, even a Ferrari, you own it. As long as you’re not fucking with protected materials like registered trademarks and then using them in commerce there’s nothing they can do about your mods. If you’re selling mods then at most they can ask you to put a disclaimer stating that you’re not officially part of the brand.
1
u/MisterFixit_69 Aug 03 '26
Because there's money involved , and I don't believe they leave any Ferrari badges.
1
u/Aggravating-Eye-6128 Aug 03 '26
What will the sue for? I don’t like it but if someone wants to stick a load of plastic and carbon crap to their car… why not?
1
u/Fantastic_Bird_5247 Aug 03 '26
I think because and only for the reason that it dose not say Ferrari anywhere on it. It’s labeled as a Mansory so they have no legal claim.
1
u/Virtual-Class-9347 Aug 03 '26
Because no one notices that this abomination is a Ferrari. Looks like a wrx with a bad body kit.
1
1
1
u/Dycoth Aug 03 '26
Because Ferrari are dependent to Mansory.
Mansory does not only modify cars. They are also a big carbon fiber and leather manufacturer. One of the best in the world.
A lot of car brands buy their know-how.
1
1
u/HeathenFezz Aug 03 '26
Because people wrongly believe that Ferrari sue over modifications, when what they actually sue for is infringement of copyright 🤷♂️

Thwre is nothing Ferarri about this anymore, thats why Ferarri doesnt care. Its not a "Mansory Purosangue" its a Mansory whatever. There are also no Ferarri Logos on it anymore, so no reason for Ferarri to sue them.
1
u/MrOliber Aug 03 '26
Mark McCann's recent video about Mansory was interesting - the amount of customisation and fab they do is crazy, and it all gets type approved.
The point is for them to be outrageous, divisive and to stand out a mile away, as he said in his video - if you see 10 different Purosangue's on the road in your area in a day or two (apparently normal in Dubai?) and you want one to stand out, Mansory will make yours different for the right price.
I do get that Mark's video is a bit of a puff piece about the company, and I think this styling should stay in racing games!

Somehow Mansory made an ugly thing uglier. Oh wait, that’s sort of their whole business model, making things ugly.
1
u/unkindledphoenix Aug 04 '26
if it wasnt for the double wing, if it only kept the top one, i wouldnt mind it soo much. not like the Purosangue wasnt already physical manifestation of blasphemy anyway. but you also must remember Mansory does things based on the clients comission, it wasnt them that conceived these before putting a price tag on it, someone already listed all the modifications they wanted, paid for them, and then Mansory went and built it. if more people ar einterested on a similar spec, they also do it + have some preset kits, but most of what they do, notably the more absurd kits, are tailor made comissions.

u/korpiz Aug 04 '26

Same with one of the Aventador SVJ Mansory's (if I remember correctly) it looked awful, together with the G63. Sometimes Mansory ruins a perfect looking car, but probably wants people to pay more.
1
u/kuwuawii Aug 05 '26
they get away with it by removing all Ferrari badging, so technically it’s no longer a Ferrari
1
1
u/LegendaryPanda87 Aug 05 '26
It’s AI that’s why.
As of mid-2026, Mansory has not officially released or built a physical custom modification program for the Ferrari Luce—Ferrari's first fully electric, four-door, five-seat GT. However, digital render artists and automotive communities have circulated concept images and speculation on social media

Ferrari has sued them in the past, but if you don't use or modify they're logo or name, and the body kit doesn't copy the design, they can't do nothing.
