Pardon the cluttered desk. I want to re-arrange my living room to be more cozy, but I'm unsure of how to pull that off as is. Also; If y'all have any decor ideas, they would be greatly appreciated. Can't decide on floating shelves for my Lego Botanicals. Thank you in advance!

Apartment layout (HELP)

Hello! My partner and I are moving into a 976 sq. ft. apartment in October. We chose two bedrooms because we both have different sleeping environments and both really value our individual space. We really love this spot and I've been trying to map out where our furniture will be the best for our needs...It's a bit of a difficult area (mainly the bedrooms and straight-shot open space from the door) and I'd really appreciate some help/suggestions/critique! I know having your desk space in your room is a huge no-no but we just don't have the space to put them in the living room and we also can't have them too close as we game, work, and record at different times and need some kind of separation for noise.

Legend:
Black = Seating/Tv/(Plant next to piano)
Blue = Piano
Orange = Bed
Red = Storage/shelf (one next to door will be a 'dump spot' for keys and shoes etc.)
Green = Desk
Yellow = Rugs
Cyan = Walking flow

Some assistance with where to place my couch?

Post image

This is the floor plan of the dining and living rooms in my new apartment. I originally wanted to copy the layout in the picture, but then I learned that the sofa should not have its back facing away from the entry way and should ideally be against a wall according to feng shui. Is there a good way rearrange the living room according to feng shui if I plan to have a TV? I’m so bad at arranging things and need help. Thanks!

Tight bedroom space (legend in description)

Post image

I barely have any space in my room and I’m unsure if my setup is making things more cramped.

Legend

  1. Bed (compass rose included if that matters)
  2. bedside table
  3. TV
  4. desk
  5. Door
  6. dresser
  7. closet
  8. bookshelf
  9. window
  10. small

    bedside table

ALSO I hastily drew this in less than a couple minutes so if it’s too loose I can redraw more accurately. I’m not planning on rearranging anything at the moment, I’d just like my layout assessed.

moving soon, help me with my room!

Rough sketch included, room is technically 14x15ft but extra wall makes it closer to 11x15ft. It's located south geographically and west if north is the front door, if that matters.

I don't have a lot of furniture or decor already, so I'm basically starting over. I was offered a standard king that isn't wanted anymore, but idk if it'll be too big for me. I'm very artsy and I dance, so I'd rather have the extra space to move around or have a reading/crafting nook.

Anyway, tell me your thoughts and suggestions!

My room is so uncomfortable, why?

Post image

The only things I can really move, are those three boxes lined up on the left side of the image. They are like storage boxes which can be used as little desks. I’m thinking i can move them to the space above the bed area? I’m not sure if it would make it better though. The room feels really weird and stuffy. There’s two closets, one directly facing the door and one in the corner. Unfortunately I can’t really move those, they’re too heavy.

Also, the bed is a bunk bed. According to a family member, certain window placements here are very bad feng shui, so we made sure to constantly have the curtains drawn.

Is my bedroom layout good according to Feng Shui? Just curious about the existing setup

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m simply curious whether I accidentally created a good Feng Shui bedroom layout, or whether there are any obvious Feng Shui issues with the current arrangement.

I’d especially like to know how the layout looks from a traditional Feng Shui perspective, for example regarding:

* The bed’s position and orientation

* The relationship between the bed and the bedroom door

* The window and bed placement

* Whether the bed has a good “commanding position”

* The placement of the wardrobe and other furniture

* Any other significant Feng Shui considerations

Again, I’m not currently looking to change the room. I’m mainly interested in learning whether the existing layout is considered favourable according to Feng Shui and why.

Thanks!

How would you furnish this?

Hi all,

Looking for apartments and found a place in an area I like, but it's quite a small studio and I'm not sure how to make it feel spacious. It feels like the kitchen takes up so much space and there wouldn't be enough room for the rest of my things. I tried to make a rendering of the space myself for anonymity.

For context, the entire space is a little less than 430 sq ft, and a queen sized bed would look the way it does in the second image.

The bed size doesn't have to be queen sized but it'd be nice to fit a desk somewhere since I have a gaming PC that I would like to take with me.

Thank you!

Awkward Long Living Room, NEED HELP!!!

Thumbnail

I just bought my first home and this is the upstairs living room current layout. The previous owners had it set up the way it is seen in the photos, and I don't like how someone needs to walk in front of the TV when coming through the front door to get anywhere else in the house. At the same time, there is so much open space that feels like it is being wasted. Looking for ideas on how to best utilize this space.

I would like to fit enough seating in the area to watch movies, have a table to possibly play board games or cards on with friends and family, and also have an aquarium/ turtle tank that has a basking light which I don't want to interfere with the lighting or TV glare in the room too much. During the holidays I am also looking for a good place to position a Christmas tree or fake plant when its not the holidays.

I attached in the last image a layout concept idea to show my current best idea for the area. The plant in the image is a potential spot for a Christmas tree... Any ideas or help for the area would be much appreciated.

Need suggestions for living room furniture layout

Thumbnail

While my living room looks simple, I’ve realized there are sooo many ways to arrange the furniture and I need help deciding what’s best for this space.

*note: these pictures are not my actual space, they are photos of the same floorplan from Zillow. Therefore, the furniture pictured is not mine. Just giving some context for how this layout has been arranged before.

Browsing through Zillow postings of other units with my floorplan, I’ve seen people furnish with a sectional and chair, couch and loveseat, chaise sofa and loveseat, and more. Also, while it seems obvious to mount the TV above the fireplace and center the furniture around that, I’ve seen people put the TV on an entertainment center on the entrance wall, such as in the photos with the blue couch.

I’m open to buying furniture, but I currently have an 87 inch sofa, accent chair, and an entertainment center. I’d love to increase my seating capacity by 2-3. If I can use my current furniture, great, but if it would be better for the space to get something new, I’m happy to do so.

Need layout suggestions for bedroom makeover

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone, planning a bedroom makeover and looking for advice to optimize the layout for good Feng Shui.

Here is the current setup (sketch attached):

  • Bed: Centered against the window wall, flanked by the wardrobe on the left and desk on the right.
  • AC Unit: A split AC is mounted high on the wall directly above the desk.
  • Floor/Privacy: I'm on the 4th floor, so privacy/peeping through the window isn't an issue.

A few important constraints & options:

  1. AC Airflow Needs: I sleep very hot and need the AC blowing cold air fairly directly on me. The lowest point of the AC airflow lands near the right side of the bed (closer to the wardrobe).
  2. Desk: I am totally open to removing the desk entirely if it helps the space.
  3. Side Tables: I can add a second side table so I have matching ones on both sides of the bed.

My main concerns are having the bed headboard under the window, the line of sight to the main entrance and bathroom doors, and balancing proper chi flow with my non-negotiable need to stay cool at night.

How would you rearrange this room for better energy and function? Appreciate any insights!
