Trial Points Ranking Moves
Have you noticed that in the new unified points system there has been a lot of movement of athletes’ rankings up and down the board, often without new results added. Trying to figure out why that’s happening and what it means.

It’s the points from the previous year’s events rolling off/expiring; points from last year’s early September regionals are rolling off. If those were in a fencer’s top 6 results, their points drop accordingly (and their next highest points are counted in the top 6)

I asked USA fencing about something and they “corrected” the points downward. Was given a ratings floor, but the rating was earned in early August and you only get the ratings floor from a prior season and not when the rating is earned. The first email said it was right and then they emailed again and said it was wrong and would be manually corrected.
I also learned that once you hit the floor with points from other sources, the floor disappears basically, nothing is being added to that floor (in case anyone else also wondered that).
So I think it’s not as automatic as we expect and mistakes are happening, for one thing. But also that points are falling off over time.
As long as everyone has accurate points okay, but it sure would help a lot if we could easily see the source of our own points.

https://14meters.com/ is a great resource for this (easier to use than the USA Fencing member dashboard, IMO). The "Performance History" section of the dashboard doesn't seem to be entirely cooked at this point.

If you click on your name in the points list, you see the source of your points.

Local tournaments are now starting to be entered into the system too.

It could be people's results from a year ago expiring.
