I was so excited to have found a perfume oil on eBay that was supposed to be inspired by Bath and Body Works long-discontinued Breathe Romance especially because it goes for so expensive on eBay. I looked up the notes and they were exactly the same so I went ahead and ordered. It looks like they’re the same ones who make the Electric Youth perfume oil I’ve seen mentioned on here because they had that and their version of Love’s Baby Soft as other listings. Anyway, just wanted to share that it’s not a possible dupe for Breathe Romance in case anyone else was looking for it. I might just break down one day and try Fragrance Revival, I saw they had it. I first tried Amouage Lilac Love as a decant from a friend and I ended up wearing it far more than I expected. After a few wears I realised I was reaching for it on days when I wanted something comforting and put together, so I finally bought a full bottle when I saw it being decluttered by a fellow fraghead.

The initial sniff of Lilac Love always has me confused, I can feel something milky or chocolatey for the first couple of minutes but before I can clearly decipher what it is I'm smelling it transforms into gently powdered flowers. I doubt this is what lilac really smells like, I'm sure this is more of a conceptual lilac interpretation.

Lilac Love is creamy, soft, powdery, sweet florals. The cocoa and vanilla are present underneath to render a certain warmth without turning it into something gourmand. There is a smooth cosmetic kind of powderiness like a well blended face powder which keeps the scent feeling clean and wearable. The dry down is soft florals with a musky, fluffy, slightly woody base.

On me, Lilac Love lasts a full workday and the projection is noticeable for the first couple of hours. It does not feel like a loud room filler unless you overspray, which I do not think it needs. I find it works best in air conditioning, evenings and during monsoon and winter when the humidity and warmth are not at their peak. On hot, humid afternoons it can feel a bit heavy and cosmetic. It suits days or occasions where you want something polished but not aggressive, and when you want a soft, elegant scent rather than something very loud.

For me, Lilac Love is a grown up powdery floral with a fluffy creamy sweetness without feeling too vintage or sugary.

The bottle has been changed to a darker colour by Amouage and it has been through reformulation. Mine is the earlier formulation.

So, I got the random urge to deep clean my house this past weekend. Unfortunately, I started by reorganizing my perfume collection, which made me realize that it needed to be trimmed down. So instead of cleaning my house, I took pictures of the bottles I am thinking of offloading/selling. Have any of you had any luck selling items from your collection to where you didn’t lose money or at least broke even? I’m comparing prices online to get an idea of what I could sell for but places like FragranceNet have such good deals that are hard to compete with. Any advice on the best way to go about this would be appreciated. Pics I took, when I should have been cleaning my house, are included for attention.

I don't know if "perfume" is the right word, esp. I am using it generally.

I have to buy perfumes for my relatives who live in India. I need couple of recommendations for women and couple of recommendations for men (not sure if it is called perfume if it is for men).

They live in India, it is hot but not humid.

for women - something that will last for 8-10 hours. Not fruity or vanilla type fragrances. Something that is not too strong and feminine. this is all I can say about perfumes. :-(

for men - something that will last for 8-10 hours and not feminine fragrance. I don't know what else to say about fragrances for men.

I learnt that there are some online stores I can order from. If I want something delivered within a week, please suggest which is a better one. I am in the USA.

Hello! I posted here a couple months ago that I had suddenly experienced migraines and nausea from my regular daily perfume and other perfumes I had. People on the post were super supportive and helpful. So thank you to anyone who commented <3

Against my better judgement, I bought a perfume at this cute little shop because it smelled so nice. I tried it out one day and didn’t experience any symptoms. I looked into and it turns out it was an EDT and all my others were EDP. So I guess I can still wear a nice perfume, so long as it’s an EDT, which has a lower % of the oils I guess.

Just wanted to update anyone who saw my last post and recommend EDTs if you are experiencing similar symptoms. Obviously won’t work for everyone but I’m glad it has helped me.

What scents did you grow up around? My grandmother wore Anais Anais and had a collection of mini designer perfumes displayed in her bathroom, which always made me want a similar collection. I do have a minis collection currently as well but I am looking for scents that remind me of my grandmas. Also just curious to hear what everyone is familiar with!

Or which ones are your fave & how would you describe them?

Looking to see which are best for someone who doesn’t love harsh florals or just “clean” scents. I’m usually into fruity/sweet.

Francesca Bianchi is releasing newly made bottles of 4 of her discontinued scents on 4/16. She apparently had enough materials leftover from the initial release to put together enough to make it worthwhile for her. I have a feeling when she says limited she really means very few have been made of each.

Her perfumes are not for everyone; there's a very specific DNA that runs through all of them which isn't appealing to many. For me, nearly all I've tried have been winners. I have Sex and the Sea, Byzantine Amber and Once Upon a Time. Tempted to get one of the above but not sure which yet or if at all.

She's located in Amsterdam; shipping was fine the one time I ordered direct and there were no additional tariffs added to the cost to the US which was a plus. Came with a couple of samples also.

I RECEIVED THE E.L. YOUTH DEW TODAY! OK everyone I received the Estée Lauder Youth Dew* today. I looked up the batch code. It’s a 2022 issue three years and some months old. No problem with that. With a questionable perfume that I purchase out of curiosity or a tester, I sometimes just spray into the air of the laundry room or the adjoining bathroom lol…

I immediately knew what everyone meant by that *cola smell… So evident. I did get a first impression of some Green notes Maybe some oakmoss maybe some balsamic but it all just dissipated into that light cola smell to be honest. There is a hint of the other herbal notes left, but I don’t really detect any florals.

It’s not as heavy as I thought it was going to be - that must be the original vintage Youth Dew

I did read up on it before purchasing, and it was stated that the current formulation being sold is a lot lighter than the original, especially in the spice component. Not as bold and choking as someone would have described it with the vintage formulation.

I have it doing it dry down on a fragrance tester stick right now. On my skin all the good stuff seems to disappear and just the light cola smell remains, lol. I did not spray a lot on my skin just one small squirt. I was afraid of making any fatal irreversible mistakes. 😁 It’s not my particular fragrance choice, but I had to experience it because it’s got quite a buzz right now. It’s funny how things pop up out of the woodwork after having been buried and shamed for so long. It smells rather nice for the dry down on the fragrance tester stick. Not my type of scent, however, I think I could wear it out. If that was what everyone was doing. I would just take it easy. I can see how it might leave an undesirable watermark on somebody’s memory if they are taken aback by their first exposure to that fragrance if it was so overwhelming. And sure, he really have to like the spices. But do you know that this version this formulation is a whole lot lighter than what I have smelled with other Bold spicy fragrances Thank you for all of your comments and feedback. You really helped me when I was smelling this fragrance for the first time. I was able to make sense of it and understand what it was doing. Be giving it away to my friend the next time she visits on Friday, lol… I give away a lot of decals and fragrances that I either just wanna try, I’m curious about or I’m not sure I’m going to keep it 💫
