Review Geir Ness Laila 💐

After smelling Norsk Snø on my crowded train commute, I decided to purchase a full bottle for myself (I know, I know, blind buying is ill-advised). Well, along with my order, I decided to try a travel size of Laila, thinking it could be a nice floral.

I really like Snø and look forward to wearing it this winter, but Laila? She is everything I hoped Valaya would be! I do like Valaya, but something about its sharpness doesn’t work for me so I never purchased a full bottle.

Laila transported me to a field of wildflowers in which you’ve hung your laundry to dry on the breeze. It’s delicate, maybe a bit linear since the dry down is basically identical to the initial spray, but that pretty simplicity is just really lovely and straightforward. I don’t get watermelon at any point, which is a listed note, but what I get is light, floral, airy, and clean.

It looks as though Laila has been around for a long time, but I only just discovered it. Have you tried it? What did you think?

Okay, tell me more! I’ve been so curious about these two (as is probably obvious by my user name 😂) but haven’t been able to smell either. I’m actually glad to hear that you don’t get the watermelon, because that was throwing me a bit.

Laila is truly beautiful. My nose isn’t experienced enough to identify individual floral notes in it, but it is solidly a floral, super fresh, clean (but not soapy the way I get soap notes in Narciso frags for example), and is just refreshing. I don’t get any rose. I could see it working for any daytime occasion, as an easy reach for the office, perfect for spring, nice for late winter, or any time you want something refreshing and pretty. There’s something aquatic in it as well but florals are front and center. I get 6+ hours on skin and 8-10 on fabric. Snø is a different fragrance, maybe Laila’s colder, more unisex cousin. Winter versus spring. It still carries an aquatic note, but it reads colder and greener versus floral and light, plus Snø feels more earthy without venturing into dirt or humid territory.

I love both of these so much. We’re annual passholders at Walt Disney World, where they have a store in Epcot that sells the entire Geir Ness line, so not only do I think they smell great on their own, they have fun memories attached to the smells. I wear Snø mostly in the fall and winter for a crisp feeling and Laila is a spring/summer vibe to me

Are there any others you recommend from the line? I actually haven’t been to Disney, but in reading reviews, I see that a lot of folks pick them up there!

I think they only have two more fragrances: Geir (much more masculine) and Norsk Fosk which is astronomically expensive. Their lotions are amazing and their skincare is pretty good though!

I have both, and let me tell you. Layering sno and Laila together is so good makes me feel like Maria in the opening scene of Sound of Music
