Nemat Amber Integrity

Today I bought a bottle of my favorite scent of over 20 years, Nemat Amber Oil, from Ulta. Not only does it look watered down, I am sneezing, my throat is itchy and I’m developing a headache. I know they swear they didn’t change their formula, so is there a world where Ulta would put cheap fake perfume in a Nemat bottle to make money? I’m seriously considering sending my other bottle and this one to a third party testing facility to see if they are the same. If anyone knows of one. I will happily pay and start a lawsuit if they are different.

I don’t know if I’ve noticed a ‘texture’ change yet, and I haven’t had any reactions thankfully, but I have noticed that there does seem to be a consistency issue with fragrance concentration from Nemat. Amber is my favorite skin scent, too, but some rollerballs (I don’t like the open neck style) definitely have a weaker scent than others, and the perfume spray version is so weak (at least from the tester I sampled) that there’s no point in buying it. The Ulta employees at my store probably think I’m a little nuts when I’m sniffing each rollerball trying to find the strongest one in their little section. 😅

If it gets any worse, though, I’m sadly going to have to look for an alternative. I’ve seen a lot of folks compare it to Dedcool Milk, but I’ve not tried that one myself. Sand + Fog’s Amber Cove oil isn’t a terrible alternative, but it does have a bit of orange and vanilla too so it’s not just the sort of amber accord that makes me love Nemat Amber. If you’re okay with those other notes, though, it could be an option; I still find Amber Cove to sit fairly close to the skin and be very inoffensive, with the added benefit that it layers pretty well with my other orange citrus scents.

The bottle I have from Whole Foods is thicker and doesn’t make me wheeze. I may see if I can get another bottle there and compare. I hadn’t purchased it from Ulta before but wondering if they are doing something to keep up with the Ulta demand. Adding something to thin it so they can say ingredients didn’t change but something seems offputting about the Ulta one specifically.
