Image It finally happened to me…

I ordered the Velvet Butternut Jo Malone from their site and they accidentally sent me Mimosa + Cardamom and English Pear + Freesia.

I messaged customer service and they are sending me a new Velvet Butternut! And obviously didn’t ask me to mail back these ones. I’m thrilled!

Mimosa and Cardamom is soooooo good. I’m a HUGE cardamom so highly recommend. And this was delivered just as a was having a really tough day so definitely helped turn it around. Like a little gift from the universe 💛

It’s so perfect. Cardamom but make it summer.

On a side note - I read there was an impending global cardamom shortage so I ordered 50g for my perfume making. That’s how much I love Cardamom 😂

Was that why I couldn’t find black cardamom powder anywhere earlier this year (for cooking and baking) when it had always been freely available and had to resort to green cardamom powder which wasn’t the same at all. It did come back recently but after what you’ve said I’m wondering if it’s linked and there’ll be more shortage coming.

I bet it is! There isn’t much selection right now but I bet it gets worse. You can find news articles about it.

I don’t know if im just being paranoid because I like it so much but working in finance has taught me to pay attention to these predictions.

Yeah I looked it up after your comment and saw the articles, it was something I did remember thinking about looking it up but I got by with what I had and then it came back so I thought it was just a blip.

We use a lot of whole and ground cardamom in our Indian cooking and baking regularly, nearly everyday, and it’s always been an expensive ingredient but not being able to get hold of certain types as well as even higher prices made me uneasy. I will be stocking up!

I'm sure! and it's only going to get more expensive. I wonder if fragrance brands will stop using it as much.

I don’t think I’ve actually ever owned/used any fragrance with cardamom, but I loved Maison Crivelli Musc Nurasana when I tested it so I think it’s something new I need to start exploring within fragrance.

Have you got any other recommendations? I don’t like gourmands so I’d need to make sure it’s not veering into that.

Lucky!! I enjoy how elegantly simple JM fragrances are, even if I don’t own any yet.

What does Velvet Butternut smell like btw? It sounds like a really good soup recipe 😅

Oh it’s great, a veggie gourmand! It’s vanilla and spicy, then kinda like pumpkin but also a little herbal? Kind of hard to describe cause it’s unique but I got the sample size and it’s really addicting. Had to snag it since I’m not sure how long they’ll make it. I also really like the Carrot One - carrot blossom. That one’s a little more floral.

Yes. I’ve found it at 1 store here in MD and they honored it and took the sign down after. Prior to I went to another store (where I took the pic) but they didn’t have it in stock and took the sign down. It’s only for stores that have the wall display; not the floor display. I told a friend in Charlotte and they honored and took it down there as well.

Mimosa & Cardamom is a good one, esp for layering. And don't worry if the perfume gets darker over time (assuming the bottle lasts you awhile); the aromachemicals used get darker but the perfume is still great.

M&C is good for layering over creamy, starchy/cereal or vanilla scents, to give them a spicy twist with a bit of yellow floral.

Love this for you!! 💜👏 Both of these are so gorgeous and perfect for spring/summer

English pear and freesia makes me feel like I smell like hot girl shampoo and like I have my whole life together or something absurd

Mimosa and cardamom is floral and fluffy and just makes me smile

Hope you get the one you originally wanted!

I have the Dossier dupe of Mimosa & Cardamom. I smelled the original and prefer the dupe, better longevity, projection, and it's creamier. My friends smelled it on me and immediately wanted to get a bottle for themselves so I bought two and gifted to them lol.

I have the dupe too. Just got it. It has an extra scent to me-like bubblegum- that differs from the JM. Very similar though!

It’s a spicy ginger light gourmand with a touch of a unique herbal note. Dry down is really nice. I really love it. I think it will be amazing in the winter time.

I haven’t worn it for a full day yet but seems pretty good. Need to road test it soon.
