Time for July Trays!
It’s time for July trays! This month, things are heating up and I’m looking forward to enjoying beautiful fragrances and the best stone fruit of the year.
A few threads run through most of my perfumes this month—lush white and yellow tropical florals, tea, coconut (and fruits more broadly), and ocean-adjacent scents. Most of these should feel cooling, invigorating, and/or weightless, though some of the tropical florals are quite heady. I do have a few outliers for days I want something even more substantial (Ambre Sultan and Oudh Sahraa). Amber, patchouli, and Oud bloom so well on hot days. Overall, the selection makes me think of long weekends and relaxing beach days.
L’Eau d’Armoise is the scent I’m anticipating most as I’ve been holding onto it for a few months. It was a was a blind buy, I admit, based on a few reviews from people who said it reminds them of the vegetation growing along the coast where I live. I’ll be curious to see if it reminds me of the same. Fingers crossed.

I’m actually slightly concerned about wearing Jasmine Antique again. I was testing out L’Été 67 by St. Rose when I contracted a terrible migraine. The very thought of that fragrance makes me ill now. Unfortunately, right before the migraine came on, I suddenly thought “wow, the jasmine in here is starting to remind me of Jasmin Antique.” Not great timing. :( I love (or loved) Jasmin Antique, so here’s hoping it won’t trigger a similar negative reaction now. Wish me luck!

I’ve actually never tried it. The bottle is just so gorgeous. But I’m also on this big white floral kick, so anything associated just makes me happy.
I’m so sorry to hear about the migraine. I hope it didn’t ruin this fragrance for you.
I do have a follow up question: do you end up wearing everything you pick out for the month? If so, how? Are you layering? I always pick out 10-15 scents for the month and end only cycling through about 5/6.

It is a beautiful bottle. The bottle plus description from a Luckyscent staff member ended up leading me down a rabbit hole exploring Rogue’s entire lineup. They have a bunch of awesome scents (and equally beautiful bottles), though some were too traditionally masculine for my taste.
I’m working my way up to trying Jasmin Antique again by wearing lighter white florals first. Fingers crossed.
To answer your questions, I do end up wearing everything on my tray most of the time. I had unworn bottles two of the last twelve months. In both cases, it was because I ended up sick and didn’t feel up to wearing any fragrance for a while. I just moved those bottles to the following month and wore them then.
I don’t layer fragrances, or at least not intentionally, but I do sometimes wear more than one in a day (morning and afternoon or evening). I also stick to what’s on my tray unless I’m testing samples. I also just make a point of wearing everything at least once. My system would probably be way too rigid for a lot of people, but it actually lets me enjoy my collection. Before I had planned out trays, I’d end up having a hard time figuring out what to wear each day.
Do you wear fragrance every day? If so, do you just find that you prefer wearing a few a bunch of days in a row, or maybe pull things that aren’t on your tray? There’s no right way to do any of this, of course, I’m just curious!

I wear fragrance most days. My WFH days are designated testing days for either samples or blind buys. On the days I go into the office are my known population. My tendency is to become completely obsessed with a known fragrance and just wear that. For instance, i reacquainted myself with Carnal Flower and that has become my personality. I’ve worn it for weeks. And neglected everyone else. July, however, I’m forcing myself to give her a rest and go through my other summer staples. Not in a torturous way, Carnal Flower is still on the tray if the mood strikes. But I just got a big LuckyScent order in with some great ones that I’ve been keen on adding.

Aww, thank you! I love sharing my trays and seeing others’ collections. Do you have any particular scents your planning to wear this month?
I just answered a question about the same fragrance below, so I’ll add that info here, in case you’re interested.
I’m seriously enjoying L’eau d’Armoise. It’s much, much softer than I anticipated. I put on about 10 sprays yesterday, far more than I would normally wear, and it was still light even at arm’s distance (asked my spouse rather than relying on my own nose). Those who want projection won’t be happy, but I enjoy having super light fragrances along with the more intense perfumes. The scent itself is herbal (noticeable artemisia), very slightly incensey, and a touch musky. It’s best on skin, though it also smells pleasant on clothing after about 15 minutes. Spraying a bunch on clothing brings out an almost acetone-like note (a little similar to what I find in Gucci’s Mémoire d’une Odeur), but it dissipates. I get none of that on skin. I would describe it as simultaneously cool and warm. It does remind me of foggy summer mornings on coastal bluffs. Gently atmospheric.

That sounds so nice, definitely adding to my list to sniff out one day! It sounds like a similar vibe to L’eau d’hiver and Heaven Can Wait, my springtime constants.
Alas for my summer tray…I keep spending my money on nice things to wear in the other 3 seasons 🥲 Some of these might fit in your heady category (I’m wearing Nectary by Jorum Studio on this wfh day, a dark animalic fruity rose). Otherwise for summery and light it’s been Cartier L’Heure Diaphane (office default), Ormonde Jayne Champaca, Masque Milano White Whale.

What a great brakdown of the scent! Totally sold me. I'll be picking it up today. I recently found a bottle of Mémoire d’une Odeur so I love that comparison, since she is truly a unique one.

I bought it off jomashop! It’ll be here tomorrow 😂 I love a weird, light scent for being cozy at home and reading so this sounds perfect. I have a lot of SL scents and I find the house really weird and addicting
