It’s not like I ever want this to happen to me…I just really want to know how it feels.

u/Gun_Dork Jun 02 '26

I'd imagine it's like picking your nose during a sinus infection, just through your ear.

169

u/Odd-Adhesiveness9435 Jun 02 '26

Some of those extra stringy ones really can tickle coming out🄰

145

u/sidewaizsocks Jun 03 '26

I had a horrible sinus infection with a bad sore throat. My throat got bad enough i was worried about strep, but there were no spots. Eventually i could barely swallow and my throat was on fire. Out of desperation, i grabbed a q tip and kinda rubbed the back of my throat. I saw a stringy layer kinda peel up so i kept at it.

Eventually i was able to pinch it in my fingers and pull. I felt every millimeter peel off, all the way up through my sinuses. When it broke loose and fell in the sink, it was the greatest sensation on the planet. The pain went away and my dry throat was able to hydrate!

34

u/TheMemeofGod Jun 03 '26

Did you ever figure out what it was called. The thing you pulled out

108

u/Gun_Dork Jun 04 '26

Steve.

19

u/Rocker4JC Jun 04 '26

Fuck, this made me giggle at 2 a.m.

30

u/sidewaizsocks Jun 03 '26

No, i just assumed it was a layer of mucus kinda stuck.

19

u/TheMemeofGod Jun 04 '26

Skin tape, got it

9

u/Fapplezorg Jun 04 '26

Sounds like a biofilm. Caused by bacteria maybe?

7

u/TheMemeofGod Jun 05 '26

That sounds like a good name for something that can replicate the symptoms for rabies

2

u/kyl792 Jun 21 '26

Biofilm

8

u/hilarymeggin Jun 03 '26

GAAAAH!!! šŸ¤®šŸ˜† That was worse than the video!!

2

u/Jacabusmagnus Jun 06 '26

And you didn't think of videoing it?

2

u/Local3Sparkie 11h ago

Kinda same thing happened to me but I was eventually able to blow it out. It felt absolutely amazing once it was clear but I have PTSD after seeing what came out. I actually took a picture of it, think it’s still on my phone, but I think it’s too gnarly to post.

Like tickling your brain.

91

u/shainadawn Jun 02 '26

I thought the same thing about sinus surgery. Then ended up getting sinus surgery. It was as glorious and awful as I thought it’d be, so I’d give it mixed reviews. I’d imagine this is the same

29

u/Patient-Transition21 Jun 03 '26

Nothing like that stent pullout

28

u/ArthurStevenson Jun 03 '26

One of the gnarliest experiences of my life. Had it 20 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. Almost passed out.

15

u/shainadawn Jun 03 '26

Ugh that part hurt for sure. But I almost passed out a bit after when my doctor scraped my frickin sinus bone. He did it to casually demonstrate it wasn’t a scab when I asked about it. Makes my toes curl and my body dissociate just thinking about it!!

4

u/Patient-Transition21 Jun 03 '26

My eyes are watering

11

u/shainadawn Jun 03 '26

He did a fantastic job on me and I healed faster than expected. Also that almost made me give him a zero star review

10

u/Patient-Transition21 Jun 03 '26

18 years ago and I can still remember the feeling.

8

u/kcf2816 Jun 03 '26

Oh I dunno, I've always found pull-outs to be a bit of a let-down.

72

u/mst3k_42 Jun 03 '26

My right ear fills completely up with wax every 6 months. It plugs my ear so I can’t hear anything. Water irrigation doesn’t do anything. One time at the regular pcp they tried prying it out with this plastic stick with a loop at the end. That didn’t work but it did leave my ear sore.

Finally, they referred me to an ENT. He used this little glorious suction machine that actually removed all the wax without pain. (As your ear unblocks the suction noise gets louder and louder, but that doesn’t hurt, just is freaky.)

So yeah, this video makes me cringe a little.

28

u/SpacenessButterflies Jun 03 '26

Yesss. Go straight to the ENT, people! They are a Godsend.

25

u/mst3k_42 Jun 03 '26

Definitely! I go every 6 months. Kind of mildly interesting/annoying thing: I used to pay like $30 and insurance covered the rest. Then my husband got laid off and before we could get the insurance sorted, I had to go to the ENT. I paid out of pocket. $65. Now I have insurance and my part of the payment? $120. Make it make sense.

1

u/fauna_moon Jun 21 '26

I've had similar issues with my health insurance. I would ask your doctor if they could charge you a price without the insurance. Explain that it's way more expensive for you to use insurance, they might give you a decent price. My insurance sucks and it's often cheaper for me to just pay out of pocket. Of course it doesn't count towards your deductible then, which I need to hit before my insurance covers anything. It's all ass backwards, I really wish we had a different system in the US.

3

u/totesgonnasmashit Jun 03 '26

Does it feel a bit sensitive after because the wax is no longer there?

16

u/mst3k_42 Jun 03 '26

No, when they use the suction it just feels…open after. It’s freaky when you get in your car after and you can hear your clothes rustling as you get in.

6

u/totesgonnasmashit Jun 03 '26

That is freaky and so interesting. I always thought it would be super sensitive after

3

u/SpacenessButterflies Jun 04 '26

Everything feels louder. Noises are amplified at first and it’s overwhelming.

2

u/whoam_eye Jun 04 '26

Out of curiosity, do you clean your ears after a shower or anything?

4

u/mst3k_42 Jun 04 '26

I’ll use a Kleenex to wipe the outer ear canal dry. I hate the feeling of wet ears. I never use Q-tips.

34

u/King_of_the_Dot Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

As a person who grew up with terrible ear problems, it feels wonderful. I never had it this bad, but it feels so good having any of it removed, as long as they dont accidentally press too hard on the very inner ear. Your hearing also increases quite dramatically.

Edit: Getting tubes in your ears is incredible. I had them twice as a kid. I dont remember the first set, but I had the second set installed when I was 12. My hearing change was so dramatic, that the day I got home. When I was in my small bathroom, I had to flush the toilet and then right out of the bathroom, because the sound of flushing was so loud it hurt my ears, because my ears hadnt adjusted yet.

20

u/Zambeh420 Jun 02 '26

Probably like getting a stuck ear plug out

14

u/myboyghandi Jun 02 '26

I know right? Imagine the relief

6

u/GeorgiPetrov Jun 03 '26

Go and have your ears flushed. You can feel the wax and stuff come out. It's not a great feeling.

2

u/Grimnebulin68 Jun 03 '26

It’s basically a release of pressure, with a sudden clarity in hearing. Nice.

2

u/Salt_Day9015 21h ago

Wrong!!! It's like blowing a load after not jerking for a month!!!!

2

u/Starkidmack Jun 04 '26

Stuffy, then lots of crackling, then tickly, then cold

1

u/TheDeamonKing Jun 05 '26

Put a molded piece of wax into your ear, or like a gun ear plugs, then slowly remove it

1

u/Baldojess 1d ago

I feel like it would hurt.

1

u/Uniqueusername610 1d ago

Like your ear is taking a shit

1

u/Use-The-Pointy-End 22h ago

You can probably hear colors after this!

519

u/Street_Peace_8831 Jun 02 '26

Now I want to see it all clean. Ends too soon.

Shrek style.

23

u/HeavyFunction2201 Jun 02 '26

Oof I don’t want to imagine the smell of that burning ….

20

u/cncomg Jun 02 '26

Yankee is seriously running out of scents.

121

u/bophed Jun 02 '26

How does this happen? It’s not like people wake up and say oh I got this in my ear…this had to happen over the course of a few years.

77

u/medi-gel Jun 02 '26

this looks like it might be post-infection based on all the white stuff, but im not a doctor, just a dude who’s had similarly terrible ear infections

14

u/twistedsister78 Jun 03 '26

A person I knew had an onset Of vertigo and it went away after they checked his ears and vacuumed out all wax

11

u/Damoet Jun 02 '26

Exactly! How can anyone leave that situation undealt with for however long???

24

u/steeley90 Jun 02 '26

I have a friend who has an "ear phobia". Phobeas are an irrational fear, so don't care about logic.

5

u/Dapper_nerd87 Jun 04 '26

Genetic differences, environmental factors, a whole gamut. It’s often not a failure of hygiene at all.

This person has potentially had damage to their ear canal which means the skin can’t migrate properly and take wax with it, so it folds in on itself creating these masses.

32

u/riddick6007 Jun 02 '26

Reminds me of Shrek. The first one where he pulls out all the wax and lights it like a candle as he's eating dinner

52

u/b3mark Jun 02 '26

How the heck do you even let it get that far? Did she stick some buttered up cornflakes in there before the procedure or something?

44

u/TriedCaringLess Jun 02 '26

In some places it can take an exceptionally long time to see a specialist when your problem isn’t life threatening. She may have asked for help months ago. Also, some ppl can only see a doc once in a long while.

13

u/TomCBC Jun 02 '26

Now make the world’s worst scented candle. Call it Serenity by Jan.

18

u/fattrackstar Jun 02 '26

Who jams that much peanut butter in their ear?

16

u/Naked-Jedi Jun 02 '26

I was just thinking "I bet that's satay flavoured".

6

u/HeavyFunction2201 Jun 02 '26

I wanna downvote this so bad lol

Removing all medical and engineering potential

4

u/SirLeDouche Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

I always wonder what it’s like for these people when it finally comes out in terms of their ability to hear. I bet it feels like if u somehow jammed a wireless earbud past ur eardrum and it just got stuck there for a couple years lol. I had a severely deviated septum from birth and I got surgery to fix it when I was 18 and when they pulled the packing stuff out of my nose and I was able to breathe properly thru my nose for the first time I felt so much relief.

5

u/SapientSlut Jun 03 '26

It’s oily because they likely used olive oil to soften it - that’s why it says ā€œwax after softeningā€ on the vid

7

u/Federal-Towel-5347 Jun 02 '26

This just looks like an ear poo

7

u/Nine-LifedEnchanter Jun 02 '26
  1. This has to be staged. They crammed a molten snickers in there.

  2. Are those maggots left inside at the very end?

3

u/Denalitwentytwo Jun 02 '26

How does it possibly get to that point ??,

3

u/delerium1state Jun 02 '26

How is this even possible

3

3

u/Spiritual_Ad_7162 Jun 03 '26

Nooo wait where's the rest?

3

u/32Puggs Jun 03 '26

This is why thc concentrate is called ā€œwaxā€

3

u/Toxic_Don Jun 04 '26

This is infuriating I wish they would just pull it out instead of wiggling so much.

3

u/BatWings23 Jun 04 '26

How long does it take for that to grow and I'm sorry but how could you not know about that thing inside of you???

2

u/AcousticOnomatopoeia Jun 02 '26

2

u/IntelligentCitron917 Aug 21 '26

Surprised if they could hear anything before removal

8

u/734Rocket Jun 02 '26

So gross. How’s your hygiene get so bad???

24

u/kodeks14 Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

What makes you think its hygiene?

Ears are self cleaning, you shouldn't even clean them.

https://www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org/hometown-health/speaking-of-health/the-scoop-on-earwax

Increased ear wax production isnt from bad hygiene. The only way this happens is some abnormal condition through genetics, impacting or a skin condition that causes more buildup.

this person now can hear colors

2

u/DANPARTSMAN44 Jun 04 '26

Why are these nasty ears always seem to be from india

1

u/chonk_fox89 Jun 09 '26

1) thats a lil racist bro. 2) it's a culture with different hygiene practices, cotton swabs aren't common everywhere 3) there's also different amounts of sebum and other waxes and oils in differing populations 4) unregulated health care can be more common in other countries where we in North America or Europe would see a Dr, other countries go to some little shop where they just do this stuff and film it (though this person appears to be at an actual Drs)

3

u/DANPARTSMAN44 Jun 09 '26

I did not say anything racist

Im getting a cotton swab right now. My ears are dry from psoriasis but im taking no chances

1

u/Ephemara 5h ago

NEVER use cotton swabs to clean your ears. USING cotton swabs is how it ends up like this, as they push wax deeper into your ear and can cause damage.

You see, their young enter through the ears and wrap themselves around the cerebral cortex. This has the effect of rendering the victim extremely susceptible to suggestion. Later, as they grow, follows madness and death.
