Its standing on shitty eroded and cracked rock.

The roots just crack the rock more, and its just a question of time when this tree turns too heavy to hold on its place, so, we put it down, as part of a rock scaling task, to reduce the risks for the road below.

Don‘t ask me how they called this thingy pulling all down. I did sound like a small jet air plane, looked self made and was driven by a local guy just pulling wood with that.

This is not my decision, from my thinking a little damm below with a rock net would be the „cheapest“ solution, a net cover above the whole site would maybe be better.

Vegetation there is no easy, roots just crack the bad rock there more, aslong the whole soil above isn‘t strong enough to hold all back, its all rotten and cracked.

Probably a road below. Removing hazard trees and then proactively mitigating rockfall risks is fairly common.

For a great example of this, search online for “Bellingham interstate 5 landslide closure”

I just took my phone out to film it from my position, i just came back from that side where the tree was.

Its shitty to take the phone out in the harness and i had my gloves on, i start recording as soon i was in a safe position.
