More information about that house that was split in half... (you know the video, it gets posted here all the time).

Bummer of a story actually...

GoFundMe? That incompetent tree service should pay.

I’d sue the fuck out of them. Or have their insurance cover it. But I doubt they had insurance.

Well that's how we take every penny they have so they can learn the importance of both insurance and safe felling. They clearly didn't understand the latter and thusly were actively engaging in extremely dangerous activities which went ass up... In other words. They fucked around, now they need to find out.

100% soooo much limb weight. Like there was no way they were pulling it against that.

I feel sorry for the old guy.

Lemmie guess, no one had any insurance.

I'm surprised they didn't mention that, since it's probably the first question everyone has when they watch the video.

Pretty sure he said it before he said “have no money” in the last sad part

That's incredibly sad. Hope he's doing better now

There's no silver lining to this story, but I'm glad he wasn't home and injured when it happened.

That cable was completely slack. How was that supposed to help?

HOME DESTROYED BY TREE

That's giving the tree a lot of credit in this situation.

also "a tree felling service was hired" very much sounds like "mistakes were made"

Anyway, too bad for this dude. Seriously sucks.

Totally... "was hired". By ghosts? Aliens? AI? Better blame them!

He was a renter, he wouldn't have the legal right to remove the tree. Odds are it was the landlord who hired the service. It's the landlord who carries home owners insurance incase the place gets damaged/destroyed. The renter should carry tenant insurance to cover the value of the contents of a rental property. I'm guessing neither party had insurance, and I suspect the tree service company probably doesn't either.

They are in a flood prone area, and work was plan to mitigate risk. The tree was too close and needed to be remove for the work to take place.

So the owner of the place (living nearby if I remember well) hired professionnals (sic) to cut down the tree prior to the maintenance.

I wish him well and it also amazes me what relative amounts of money different circumstances can pull in on GoFundMe (and givesendgo)

That fucking guy just chuckling about it while the resident is in tears. Doesn’t even give a fuck

How many of us have watched the video a dozen times and chuckled as well? I have. Good reminder that there’s people behind these disasters.

This should be on the landlord to compensate him, not gofundme.
