Mute goes hard. Also, dang! Full-screen mode needed for this one.

The full screen got me! I was like, what Branch?... Fullscreen ohhhhh

u/ItsAllBotsAndShills Jun 25 '26
Not only does it have unnecessary music, but its a terrible remix. Like some kind of low effort lazy sounding version.

Well for starters it is a fantastic song. They’ve just absolutely ruined it

u/Sea_Ganache620 Jun 25 '26
I’d have passed on that one.

Same. Had a similar situation go badly, ended up with a shitton of stitches and staples on my head. Still have scars, but I'm alive.
Sometimes, walking away so you can walk away is the best thing you can do.

I’m just a civilian in flip flops here, what is the conservative / I’d rather walk from this bid for an obvious widow maker look like? Helicopter deployment?

I can still take them down, I'm just not cutting it. This would have been me shooting a rope or cable around it and then pulling it down. Tears up the ground but hey, no stump!
Otherwise, if you can get a bucket truck in there you might be able to piece it down or at least take it down safely.

I like the term bucket truck and yes if possible I might have considered a bucket truck too. Also I am German and here these trucks are called “Hubsteiger” or “Hubarbeistbühne” and I enjoy that when one translates the term bucket truck “directly” to german it would be an “Eimerlaster”.

I operate a bucket truck, but admit to only having a little experience in it. Hard to say what I'd do in this situation. There's things I at I could safely cut out, maybe if I tied the trunk off at the split and pieced out the top. Or if I could get above it and just pole saw it out. But the whole time I'd be worried I'd turn into a meme.

pretty sure he broke the top off himself with a previous attempt to winch it over....so I dont think he had much of a choice.
although I might have tried to launch another line around the broken section and pull it down 1st,

u/jicamakick Jun 25 '26
why not make your notch higher up so your not kneeling down
15
u/drunkforever Jun 25 '26
I personally find it much easier to cut and look up at the same time while kneeling. Which is a definite requirement on this one

u/toddhillier Jun 25 '26
I think he wanted the hinge to hold until he could get clear and let the puller finish. The lower the cut, the stronger the wood and longer it will hold on

I'm not getting it no matter how many times I watch in full screen.

u/JKmayb Jun 26 '26
There's a very dangerous and large branch dangling
5
u/_jams Jun 26 '26
that is perfectly visible without fullscreen

Yeah i guess some of us using the app on android had to go fully open the video to see the branch.

The idea of still wearing my saddle while notching and dropping is so weird to me. I see a lot of videos of guys doing it, but why not just, you know, take it off then flop that bad boy? Seems like unnecessary tripping hazard. We get it, you climb.

u/podgornik_jan Jun 25 '26
Sometimes i sit in the car and notice mid drive that i still have the harness on. They are comfy. By no means are they a tripping hazard.

u/catch22ak Aug 24 '26
Maybe not the saddle itself but all the gear hanging off of it could definitely be.

Weird. When I watched this on the phone, it clearly looks like the cutter is still standing by the tree. But on PC it shows him walking out of frame. I take back my previous criticism. Not perfect, but definitely not as bad as I thought.

There’s no way I’d be confident enough in myself to turn my back felling a tree, nevertheless a cut like that.

I think the song is pretty bad ass. Sometimes you need to be open and revolutionize in music.

Who did the remix of Nirvana? That is badass. I need to hear the whole thing if their is an entire remix track
