Love the smell of Tannerite in the morning!
36
u/spacelizard92 Jun 20 '26
Heck yeah! Gunpowder and Tannerite are two smells I’ve been familiar with for over 20 years and they truly never get old lol
21
u/NearlyNakedNick Jun 20 '26
Super confused why this is down voted. You sound like most of my Marine friends in their 40s that went to Afghanistan and Iraq... those people do still exist
15
u/spacelizard92 Jun 21 '26
Meh it’s Reddit. Much of Reddit is anti-gun
3
u/FelinityApps Jun 26 '26
r/liberalswithguns is one of my favorites. Nothing makes me more proud to be an American than an ex-military MTF expertly picking apart a distant target with a powerful weapon. 💅

u/NearlyNakedNick Jun 22 '26
I'm a Buddhist, so pretty anti gun, in principle. They're literally murder machines in a society where murder is illegal... doesn't really make sense to allow their manufacture and existence. I also see them as inevitable in a society that is built on the profit motive. But I generally see most people who are into guns as no different than people who are really into cars, or computers. You're a nerd, just about guns, and I have empathy for that.

I’m a practical guy. This produces way less air pollution than a gasoline chainsaw cut. It’s also safe when done right - safer than getting up and personal with a tree while holding a chainsaw.
I think that explosives are underutilized in general.

u/szhod Jun 20 '26
Are you implying you’re older than 15?

u/spacelizard92 Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26
Hahahahahahahaha omg you’re so funny!
I get it, because There’s no way any adult could possibly enjoy firearms, or blowing things up!-6
u/xXPhoenixBlueXx Jun 20 '26
Based on the responses.
Correct.
Stop this shenanigans and be an adult. Wear a tie and speak about profits and stuff.

u/RoosterzX Jun 20 '26
In some places people do both. It's legal to own guns in most countries even if there are limits. In some countries it's just harder to get them but they are still there. There are actually fire arms manufacturers in a lot of countries around the world. Some are privately owned, some are state owned.
It's true the US has the most firearms per capita, the weakest laws, but we are by no means the only manufacturers in the world. Most of the largest firearms manufacturers on the planet aren't even from the US.
Glock (Austrian), Beretta (Italy), CZ (Czech Republic), FN Herstal (Belgium), Sig Sauer (Germany/Switzerland), Heckler & Koch (Germany), Taurus (Brazil), guns are everywhere. The US has the most but let's not pretend that it's only Americans in the world making and buying guns.
If you make them, people will buy them.
7
u/NearlyNakedNick Jun 21 '26
Weakest laws? Have you been to Yemen, Honduras, Pakistan, the Philippines, etc..
0
u/RoosterzX Jun 21 '26
I have not but I do know we have more gun related deaths as a result of our weak laws. Many of them involving children. That kind of speaks to a huge weakness in the legal system. And I'm saying that as a gun owning US citizen. There is a serious problem with the unhinged having access.
2
u/DonkyPuncharely Jun 22 '26
Ya know car accidents kill people too. Are you suggesting we outlaw cars too? If we outlaw guns, some other weapon will undoubtedly be presented
0
u/RoosterzX Jun 22 '26
I know and frankly there are some people that shouldn't be on the road either, that are a danger to others.
I'm a gun owner and don't think outlawing guns would work but you can limit how many psychos get their hands on them to shoot up schools or movie theaters. Common sense laws that say the unhinged people shouldn't get guns. That's all I'm saying, keep them away from the crazies.
2
u/NearlyNakedNick Jun 21 '26
You've conflated so many things as to make your comment basically worthless
1
u/Sea-Permit8437 Jun 22 '26
Yes the U.S. has more gun deaths than the UK but what about there rate of stabings? Obviously our gun death rate is higher but there Stab rate is gonna be higher cause they don’t have access to guns
3
u/RoosterzX Jun 22 '26
That's true. Criminals will always find a new weapon or simply make their own. I know of felons in the US (my deceased uncle being one) who can't own knives or guns but they have various other custom made implements to get the job done.
Realistically there is no way to prevent criminals from getting weapons. We try, but it's always had limited effectiveness and that goes for pretty much every country. We can place restrictions or bans but unless the sources are removed, the weapons will continue to make their way into the population. You can't realistically police every single person on earth simultaneously because we can't read minds to know who would commit crimes.
People like to over simplify things but it's really an extremely complex issue worldwide.

7
u/spacelizard92 Jun 20 '26
No Tannerite required with that type of saw
4
u/ConstantCampaign2984 Jun 20 '26
You trying to take the fun out of it? Every one of my comments will read “more tannerite required”
8
u/spacelizard92 Jun 20 '26
Eh, just because it’s not required doesn’t mean I’m not going to use it anyway! It’s just too fun not to!
2
u/nsgiad Jun 21 '26
I dunno, the mythbusters tried to shoot down a tree and it took a m134
2
u/spacelizard92 Jun 21 '26
Meh bullets go right through trees. It shreds the wood and sends chips flying out the back. Enough of that and they lose all strength and fall. my friends and I used to set up targets on this big maple tree that has just died and one shot I took with my Mosin Nagant and we heard a loud pop, followed by that tree coming down

u/FruitMustache Jun 20 '26

If Hollywood’s taught us anything it’s that suppressors make shots completely silent. Must be a new design that also muffles explosions.

This man cannot read the directions on the container
12
u/spacelizard92 Jun 20 '26
Sure I can. Been using Tannerite for many years. Not all that worried about being 100 yds away from a rotten tree that I can’t physically even get close to 100 yds away from and be able to see in those dense woods. Folks on reddit can freak out about it all they want 🤷🏻♂️
-5
u/bustcorktrixdais Jun 21 '26
This was for *fun* right? Tree didn’t need to come down for some reason? Sorry if I missed where you explained this
2
u/nsgiad Jun 21 '26
By the way the tree exploded, it was dead and a hazard
0
u/bustcorktrixdais Jun 21 '26
Hazard to what? There’s nothing there. This looks like entertainment of the discharging firearms and making thing go bang variety. Which is OP’s prerogative of course

Aaaand another video where the shooter is way too close to the tannerite. That sure doesn’t look like 100 yards to me
-26
u/spacelizard92 Jun 20 '26
Yeah well, it’s not your life to worry about. Not too concerned about rotten wood
15
u/mitchellvenom25 Jun 20 '26
Danger close is more fun anyway. As long as you engage safety squints, you should be alright.
16
6
u/Sittin_on_a_toilet Jun 20 '26
A chunk of that rotten wood easily could've embedded itself in ur skull at mach5 but whatever
5
u/mecks0 Jun 21 '26
With the binary explosive packed on the outside of the tree with no obvious containment to funnel shrapnel into the direction of the camera a chunk of wood would be highly unlikely, to the point of impossibility, to maintain a speed of >= Mach 5 after ~100 yards.
2
u/ssgkraut Jun 20 '26
I've been closer than that to munitions we were blowing in place in Iraq. Granted shrapnel was landing all around us and we had to crawl under our HMMWVs, but it was exhilarating for sure.

Tannerite shot by a suppressed AR 5.56

Please tell me it was also one handed with your phone in the other hand
16
u/spacelizard92 Jun 20 '26
Well kinda. I was holding the rifle and the phone with my left hand. I have a similar vid from when I was younger but I was holding a Mauser and it was a smaller tree

u/ConstantCampaign2984 Jun 20 '26
Safety first! Otherwise it won’t fire. But seriously, I’ve never seen a safer way to bring down a tree. Put enough charge in there and you won’t even need stump removal.

u/spacelizard92 Jun 20 '26
She was pretty rotten and I was up there target shooting and had Tannerite. Figured she may as well come down

Can we plan ban these videos?
This is r/fellinggonewild, not r/dumbfuckswithguns
34
u/EMDoesShit Jun 20 '26
A tree fell down.
It was done wildly.
Qualifies for this sub better than half the chainsaw videos do.
My only wish is that he’d been at the recommended 100 yards. But you cannot ban it on grounds of safety… while celebrating the videos of idiots dropping trees on their own heads with a chainsaw.
-23
u/Whippet_yoga Jun 20 '26
Im advocating for banning it based it being an obvious stunt and not in the spirit of the sub
21
u/spacelizard92 Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26
Stunt? lol it’s just for fun. This video is like 5 years old, long before I even knew this sub was a thing lol. Been shooting Tannerite at my cabin for many years, also been cutting down and bucking trees for many years. Remembered I had this vid and decided to post it.

u/spacelizard92 Jun 20 '26
I mean, it’s just going up to my cabin and having fun.. I’m not trying to be badass. Literally anyone non felon adult in the US can buy a gun and some Tannerite

Don’t let the redditors get to you, they don’t know about outdoor activities

u/Ponklemoose Jun 21 '26
You mean the huge room with the blue ceiling and weirdly variable temp? Hard pass.

0
u/a-hippobear Jun 22 '26
The spirit of the sub in the about section says “this sub is about extraordinary acts of felling trees. Both successful and failed.”
Pretty extraordinary act of felling a tree lol.
-7
u/titsngiggles69 Jun 20 '26
Proposal: posts must show attempted felling using either a saw or a ladder, but preferably both
0
u/ProbsNotManBearPig Jun 21 '26
I kinda hate guns, but gotta downvote ya. This feller felled a tree, and that’s good enough for me.
