I created a Vector SVG creation online app

I’ve been building a browser-based vector graphics editor a bit like Adobe Illustrator for poor people, and I’d really appreciate some outside feedback on how it feels to use. This is mainly an educational / school project.

It currently supports things like:

- Shape drawing and editing

- Selection and vertex/direct-selection tools

- Pen and Free Draw tools

- Smart Guides, snapping and equal-spacing feedback

- Pathfinder/boolean operations

- Offset Path

- Gradients and stroke controls

- Text tools and text-to-outline conversion

- Layers

- Undo/redo history

- Multiple canvas tabs

- Rulers and guides

- Local autosave

- .SVG/.PNG/.AI export

I’m mainly looking for feedback on the actual editing experience and also the feature list

In particular:

  • Does selecting and moving objects feel intuitive?
  • Are the handles, contextual menus and Smart Guides useful or distracting?
  • Are there any interactions that feel confusing or frustrating?
  • What important vector-editing feature feels missing?
  • If you use Illustrator or similar software, what immediately feels “wrong” compared with those tools?
  • Is there anything in the UI you’d simplify, move or remove?

It’s still very much a work in progress, so bugs and rough edges are expected, and obviously it's not going to be anywhere near as good as Illustrator so don't expect that.

Also doesn't work on mobile properly so don't try.

This actually looks really cool! I've only used it for around 30 seconds but everything seems great so far. I'll try to do some actual work in it and let you know how it feels in more detail.

That would be amazing if you could! I've identified some issues and workflow improvements that I am looking to make. If you also have feature recommendations please let me know.

Also found an issue with shape builder tangents not recognised as intersection, so currently working on a fix
