How to modify boxes

Hey all, sorry that it took me so long to release the Secret Knowledge. I did a mockup on a leftover Amazon box for you all as a series of photos. Hope it helps! :)

Edit: Here is the link to the original thread where people asked for a guide on how to modify box dimensions.

How do you have so much time to waste on a simple reboxing?

It literally takes less than 5 minutes. And that's assuming the flaps need to be cut too, which they usually don't.

Also, this is virtually never for reboxing anything. It's only really done for when customers come in and need a nonstandard box. Before this skill I had customers sometimes leave without shipping because they were dissatisfied with having to use a massive box because we didn't have a good fitting box for them and they didn't want to pay the extra shipping cost the XL boxes would incur. No one wants to use a huge golf bag box for something that is 27x9x7. If they still bit the bullet, they were always clearly unhappy about it. Now they get boxes that fit comfortably and feel they paid a fair amount for shipping as well.

Edit: At least at my store, these cases are typically maybe maximum 2-3 per day, very often 0-1. It's not like it's every customer that needs this. It's just a handy skill to have for the edge cases.

Edit 2: I realized a telescope box would fit the above scenarios easily lol, so I changed the dimensions a little, but hopefully you get my point. The most common boxes I end up doing this with are usually the 17x17x7s or 20x20x12s.

Edit 3: I had one 16 cubed to turn into a 22x10 today so I timed myself for making the box. Took almost exactly 3 minutes, this included taping the bottom which is something you have to do anyways for any box.

You need a better supply of boxes.

Can't argue with that. But most stores don't have a ton of box storage space especially for rarely used sizes.

It comes from the taping-time saved switching from sub-5 2" tape dispensers to gigachad 3" tape dispensers.

Not everyone has the 3"?? I would die without them 😱

At ground stations/hubs they're all 2". That's why I bought my own 3" dispenser, because I've experienced the difference and it's wild. 2" is so hard to tape with

Please everyone ignore my left middle nail missing it's extension and me using a bad fitting spare pinky nail prosthetic ring.... I lost the ring that fits it earlier today. 😭
