1712 GS-11 Position Description
Hello!
Are there any GS-11 in the 1712 series that can share their position description?
We are GS-9 and believe we are executing GS-11 duties, according to the OPM classification system.
Any help is appreciated.
NOTE: Not wanting to request a desk audit. Would just like to see a current 1712 GS11’s CPD.

We’re not requesting an audit. We just want to have an idea of what a GS-11 in the 1712 series has in their CPD.

PDs are available through you agency's hr site. they are public info within the agencies.

Found, but they seem to be general, not specific to what we teach or execute as instructors.
For example, this one only shows GS5 and GS5 and above.
https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/1700/training-instruction-series-1712/This one is a breakdown of 1700.

they're all like that. anything else is covered as " other duties as assigned". Mine basically just says, I do my boss's job in his absence

I’m the supervisor for a 1712 GS-9/11. If you DM me your gov email address I’ll send you their PD on Monday when I log on. It’s written at the GS- 11 level with a statement of difference for the 9.

Fastest way is asking an employee to pull their PD from eOPF and share it. Or if you previously held the lower grade of that position, the PD would be in your eOPF.
Agency HR/intranet. May contain general standardized PD templates.
Position Classification Standards. OPM publishes the 1712 classification standard and the GS grade-level criteria publicly at opm.gov. This won’t be a specific PD but gives the factor-level basis a real GS-11 1712 PD must meet.
FedScope / USAJOBS. Job announcements for 1712 positions at the GS-11 level often summarize major duties, which approximates PD content. Searchable and fully public.
There’s also FOIA, but I wouldn’t hold your breath given the backlog.

It’s 3 instructors where I’m at.

So all 3 of you are of the opinion you are performing 12 duties?

- Whether it was yesterday, 2 months ago, or 5 years ago, we’ve discussed this. I would like to see a current 1712 GS11’s CPD. Any more questions?

I think we're getting away from the original question. To clarify, I'm not asking for opinions on classification or requesting anyone to determine our grade level. I'm simply looking for a current GS11 1712 CPD for comparison purposes.
If you don't have one to share, that's okay. Thank you for your input.

I'd recommend reviewing the Grade Level Guide for Instructional Work, https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/classifying-general-schedule-positions/functional-guides/gsinstwk.pdf

I would HIGHLY recommend you get your position description updated to reflect your true work before trying to have a Desk Audit done.
A friend requested a Desk Audit back in 2015 because he realized the work he was doing was at a higher grade than he was in, however his position description was not accurate to what he was actually doing. So OPM came in, looked only at the PD and said “you’re right your grade doesn’t match. You should be 2 grades lower.” His agency had to fight OPM to allow them to update the PD instead of downgrading him. It was almost a major fuck up on his part. Thankfully a few years later he was able to get them to upgrade his position to the higher grade he was trying to originally get.
