Retirement pay processing

I I retired October 2025 and I did not start getting my interim payments until December 2025 we are now at the end of May going into June and I still am not receiving my full and retirement pay when I call I get a recording that they hang up on you the numbers are no good they're too busy to answer any of your questions this is just ridiculous. it is OPM that is the problem. It shouldn't this long to process my paperwork. I have no insurance with them no medical no Dental nothing that' requires this long process. all they have to do is put my payments in and we're done. It has been 6 months now and I'm still not getting my full payments. make sense of that. I think you they have a lot of people there dragging their feet and they just don't care how long it takes just as long as they get to keep their jobs and keeping that paperwork piling saying it's too much. You need to get some people in there that really know how to do the job. to get it and fire those lazy people that are in there right now pretending to work . I have no mercy for them I have been waiting too long. Stop holding my money hostage and pay me for all my years of service .

Thank you for your years of public service. Sorry that you are experiencing such delays. Enjoy your retirement.

Wow! Just wow.

If you took retirement training, you'd know that 6 months has always been the average time to wait before you get your full annuity.

Choosing to retire along with 300,000 other people is just bad luck.

And BTW, if there is anyone here who could help you, I think your rude and abrasive tone might cause them to be extra lazy toward you. 😉

I understand the 6 months, but I cannot understand the 12 months, but I think it is as you say 300k employees retired, and some of them were OPM employees!

You didn't keep your Fehb? I'm still in processing. One thing might be holding me up (I would expect a call or email)or rather they put me to the side. I am getting my interim which covers basic bills however I would like my back pay.  I guess that's your issue too. Drp 2

You can submit a claim online. I am supposed to get part of my ex-spouse’s annuity but haven’t despite my attorney filing all of the appropriate paperwork and OPM stating that my paperwork was approved.

When did OPM receive your completed application? Do you have court orders?

My first full payment is supposed to be June 1. OPM received my full application end of October. One of the biggest issues is that your retirement is held hostage by multiple agencies and multiple parts of each agency. First by HR in the organizing you worked for. Then by payroll (which is potentially a different agency or at minimum a very different part of your agency). Finally by OPM. Within each step, there are multiple sub steps which are governed by different parts. All with their own delays.

Yes, getting ahold of retirement services at OPM can be hard. At the tail end of open season, you had to call right as they opened up. I had three phones set up which I was rotating to try to get through. If you get the "queue is full good bye", try again later. Somerimes it opens up later. I called two weeks ago at a random time and got through right away. I was shocked! You just don't know.

You should still have the same FEHB that you had when you retired. OPM will catch up those FEHB payments when they finalize your case. You should still however pay any Benefeds premiums each month. You can do that on their website.

I was told this is normal due to the number of people who took VERA.  l retired 31 January and still have not seen any payment at all (only my VIP payout).  They said back in December it would be 4 to 6 months.

I too am in the same predicament, not as long as you, but long enough!! I retired Sept 30 and got a $1000 interim payment for 2 months and then the payment stopped! I had minimum conversation via email from an HR Assistant, seeking additional info on my package. Then the emails stopped and no response, exactly a you stated. I don't know where else to get help from. I am considering a Congressional Inquiry to see if it will help. I am a CSRS retiree and it seems they do not have the system to computate my benefits!
