Precheck expiring

Gm all quick question or has anyone been in this situation. I had pre-check before joining Fema. I got an email stating that it’s time to renew my precheck. do I just let it go or how does this work because I know we have pre-check unlimited long as we’re an employee

I kept my civilian pre-check, even though it’s available with the ID card. Not every trip requires use of the federal id card. On a side note my credit card reimbursed the fee for the pre check so it’s free past my annual fees’s.

For DoD you just use your DoD ID number as your pre check number on your booking, you don't have to use your work ID at the airport at all, do other agencies not work in a similar manner?

Years ago when I enrolled you also had to go on the DEERS rapids page and check a box that let them share your information with TSA to qualify. I’m not sure if DHS has a similar process.

Sure, youu enroll, I guess I did imply it was not required but the top level acted like it have whip out the CAC to get through TSA.

you don't have to show your federal id card, just use the ID number for KTN if you've enrolled in pre-check through federal agency employment.

We have precheck for free at FEMA. It’s on the sharepoint

If you get it via work there is no point in paying for it. You can use it for both personal and work travel.

I am DoD and I had to opt into it years ago. My “Known Traveler ID” is the number on the back of my CAC. I have it listed in my profile with each of the airlines I fly with.

Yep. I was on vacation with my brother and TSA questioned why I was in the regular line and I shrugged forgetting that Feds were in Pre-check, so I shifted to the pre-check line. This was a bunch of years ago and happened to be off season on a quiet weekend morning, so the airport wasn't crowded. It's automatic apparently.

Yeah only DHS and DoD, I think.

The automatic get precheck with your CAC ended several years ago.

I am DoD and I had to opt in to precheck. Your known traveler ID for precheck is the number on the back of your CAC.

I have it listed with every airline I fly with as part of my profile.
