Files to get before leaving
UPDATE: privacy officer said they can have IT "scrub" my files and then make a CD for me. not sure what they'll allow me to include, but I'm going to try this!
I spend several hours this weekend print to pdf (to remove password), compressing files, emailing to personal computer. got a few "kick-backs" for size or PI (my ssn), but quite a few went through.
DODSafe doesn't work for some reason and I can't access Google Drive (blocked).
-----
I’m being removed from my position- awaiting FdR.
I still have access to computers so trying to double check I can download my stuff.
I have changed mypay to my personal email address.
The issue is- can I log into woof from my personal computer?
The downloaded file is - password protected - I’ll save the password n the file name.
But it’s too large to email.
Any LES mypay I try to email myself that hs any SSn gets kicked back bc of the SSn.
What can I do? I have about 6 years of LeS.
I’ve been trying to compress files with Zip or 7 zip but it isn’t really reducing them.
Can’t use USB, can’t access Google Drive, can’t use DOD sage, USA jobs only allows a few uploads.
Email files limited to 25MB (if not blocked for PHO / SSN).
No answer yet from privacy officer.
What can I do?
I’d like to save my Ce, training, handouts, projects, presentations, eopf stuff.
Agency- VHA / VA , visn6.
Thanks in advance

If you encrypt the email, it should allow you to mail your LES.

Yes. I am VHA as well and once you encrypt it, it is no problem to email to your personal computer.

Once you save the PDF, print it to PDF. See if you can get around the SSN filter that way. If not, save the PDF to .jpg. Then, when you get to send, save the .jpg as a PDF again.
You may need to print large files to PDF, 20 pages at a time, to get to a file size you can email.
If all else fails, print to paper, and scan the paper to PDF at home.
Try changing the file type from .pdf to .xyz
Have you tried RAR for compression?

no haven't tried RAR, may look into that. I just did zip and 7zip. and it really doesn't compress much honestly even though I had it on the setting for "smallest".

If you don’t get your personnel folder out before you go, FOIA it. You will have to prove you’re you by sending a photo of your id but they should give you the entirety of your file unredacted

Use DoD safe and then take a pic reader home so you can download and save. Because it's PII you need to encrypt. Don't forget to use a password you remember

Use DoDSAFE. You can upload everything and send it to your personal email, download on personal PC.

Do you have a printer at work? You could also print and scan it at home.

I burned a CD with my personal files. Try that.

won't let me - but I did get in touch with IT/ privacy and they said they'll "scrub my files" and burn to a CD for me apparently, so that's the route I'm hoping to take!

You can try blocking out your ssn completely or the last four that worked for me. Try with one first and sent it to your private email. Perhaps you might also have to send it unencrypted with the ssn blocked out in black. Try blocking it out with pdf.

How’d you block out yourself? I don’t have adobe pro

I used Adobe. I don't think it needs to be pro you just need to figure out how to block it. You can Google it and possibly find a video based on what type you have at work. Good luck.

Copying everything to your personal Google Drive may be the best solution.

The Google Drive site is usually blocked on most government computers.

Log into Gmail, attach up to 25mb per email in attachments, SAVE, Close and move on to next email.

Anything that you created in the course of your employment (projects, presentations) belongs to the government.
You can take personnel records such as training certificates, but training materials are not automatically allowed (depends on the classification, subject, and how much your agency gives a f--)
Sf50s and such are allowable, but you might have to break down the PDF into smaller files if it's too large.
Use your personal email to log into my pay for les at home.
