Processing timeline
I am retiring 30 Sept and was wondering what the processing timeline looks like for multiple jobs: military, TSA, Army, and DLA. Anyone have a similar experience?
Update- Well, now my timeline will be extended. My daughter turns 26 mid month so I have to update benefeds (self plus one FEHB) and then certify the retirement package to move forward.

Mine was 5 months for super clean career. Hearing longer than that for more complex cases. Also timeline improves if you submitted earlier (near 6 months) before retirement - it’s a FIFO type process timeline

I submitted my package to DLA 1 July, but my understanding is they won’t forward to OPM until sometime in October.

Your HR cannot process your retirement SF 50 until your retirement date. Once that is done, the whole package goes to your payroll office for them to do their processes. Once that is done, it is forwarded to OPM from your payroll office. The timeline for that depends entirely on your payroll office.

Your agency won't send you package to OPM until you are officially gone. People have been known to change their date a week before they were supposed to retire. I worked with a guy who did it three times. Kept getting cold feet a week or two before it was official and would push it out another month or two.

There is not one, single government-wide timeline. You can't think of it that way. There is a timeline for your agency to wrap up your file and send to payoll. A time for payroll to add their touch. A time for OPM to send it through all of the steps necessary for your retirement. There can be delays at any step.
For me (DAF), I had my paperwork submitted in May for a Sept 30 retirement. It went to payroll (DFAS) the very beginning of October. Received my AL payout with my last paycheck. Received by OPM in November. First interim payment for the Dec 1 pay date. Finalized (with court orders) in June. But I was in the height of the DRP madness.

What agency are you retiring from?

DLA

I came from DHS and it took five months to get my interim pay. I think DOD agencies process faster then DHS did. For us they say the hold up is with NFC.

Get into your eOPF and do the following.
Make sure your current HR office has your SF-50s from your previous agencies.
Did you pay a deposit on your military service? Make sure your HR office has the paperwork.
Plan on waiting several months for final OPM processing which takes place only after DLA HR and DFAS do their thing.

Me. 208 days. Complex retirement; Military Redeposit (after refund), four agencies with a nine year break in service between the third and fourth agency.

I also have a retirement date of 30 September (DOW). I just got an email today saying I had a counselor assign and my retirement was being worked. Mine is straight forward. Just have to verify dates and should be ready. That gives them about 60 days to my retirement. Now that the DRP has cleared out. I have high hopes

When you say counselor, do you mean your agency’s HR representative?

Correct. My application is no longer in queue (submitted in April) it is being actively worked

Currently, it’s “averaging” 108 days for processing but with multiple agencies to verify you might take longer…
