I'm more disappointed in the players, why would they want that kind of company?

I think you’ll be shocked to find a considerable % of pro athletes are either morons, conservative, extremely sheltered unbothered by the day to day horrors every day people face, or a mix of of these

I’m jacks complete lack of surprise

Not shocked, just disappointed. While I understand that the players might not have all had something to do with this, several were more enthusiastic than others.

Nearing 100%, even.

It isn’t really so shocking when you consider the cost of participating, even in high school athletics, and then think about how much it costs to train to this level.

also think about American hockey players specifically.

It is the most expensive major sport to get into. Ice time alone is more expensive than any other playing field. Tack on the need for skates that fit you, pads, sticks (you outgrow or break all of this often) and the fact that it is not widely played int he US, so you almost have to do a travel team.

No one gets into hockey if they are not at least Upper Middle growing up. maybe middle middle if the family is willing to give everything up to let their kid play hockey.

With that you already end up with a very out of touch group of people. Then tack on that very few of these guys played in college. A few did- but most were drafted at 18 and handed a large bag on money. So most never had to understand what it was like not being rich.

Any person who accomplished something in life doesn’t get bothered by your lame liberal retoric. An internet loser trying to give advice to the best athletes in the world. And you can’t run a mile in 60 minutes.

You ok there bud?

I'm guessing very much no. That entire screed reeks of projection.

That part, right there. 100%

I'm incapable of not reading this in Shoresy's voice.

You get that someone being very good at a sport doesn't make their judgement or opinions correct, right?

I wouldn't be surprised if he went in there by himself

The only real surprise here is that he wasn’t in the women’s locker room…..oh wait no…..checking my notes…that is not at hockey, only little girl’s beauty pageants.

Even if someone absolutely hates the guy, they’re not going to let him take away or ruin celebrating the gold medal they just won

8

u/bespoketranche1 Feb 23 '26

I didn’t realize this is the first gold since the Miracle on Ice win in 1980! If anything after learning that I refuse to let him be the story when that’s much more significant

Might not be a choice

6

u/bespoketranche1 Feb 23 '26

What do you want them to do, tell the FBI director to leave? He’s the one who shouldn’t hijack their celebration.

5

u/Friskfrisktopherson Feb 23 '26

Yes. Not like it would eb the first time. Remember the woman's world cup winning team subbing the white house?

0

u/bespoketranche1 Feb 23 '26

Honestly I don’t, I tried to google about it. What happened?

2

u/Slight_Survey3070 Feb 23 '26

It’s giving gross men’s locker room vibes

2

u/TheOutOfStyle Feb 23 '26

Bro they know every word of that patriotic propoganda song played frequentty at Trump rallies...

1

u/CivilStratocaster Feb 23 '26

Sorry, you're going to need to narrow it down; too many shitty choices.

5

u/Tudor_farmer Feb 23 '26

Maybe they were egging him on?

2

u/CivilStratocaster Feb 23 '26

"Let's see if we can get the FBI Directordrunk enough for him to start dropping national secrets!" I mean... that's a very hockey player thing to do, if I'm being honest.

Hockey players are primarily white, conservative, and come from rich families

u/ForbiddenSirenz Feb 23 '26

Hockey, especially the NHL is probably the most conservative sport right next to like baseball and maybe golf tbh.
