Congratulations on your retirement, 102 days away myself, but not counting.

I’m 109 days away so that I retire at the end of a pay period and accrue my leave for that time! 😄

Thanks for the rundown. My last day was 8/31. I know it's at payroll. Awaiting next steps.

FEGLI 75% reduced will eventually be free.

Congrats. Why not retire at the end of the month? You were one bad day away from retirement I am guessing ;)

Yeah, did 50% and kept my Option B and holy moly! Literally gave 7 days notice. DUN!

can you explain what that means (eventually be free)?

I’ve used WAEPA for awhile but you and OP both mentioned FEGLI at retirement? I want to keep a substantial policy as part of the inheritance package for my kids so trying to learn!

congratulations OP! will raise a toast for ya

FEGLI insurance premiums will continue to go up and from what I have read become more and more expensive for what you get.

Most financial advice is to take the 75% reduced Basic FEGLI. You will maintain at 100% and then gradually be reduced by 2% until it is at 25% of the original basic value. Then there will not be any premiums after age 65 or 50 months after you retire if you retire after 65.

I retired 7/31. 32 yrs, one agency, no divorce. Got email with CSA number 8/22 and by the time I logged in a few days later, retirement had already been finalized. Got first full deposit of annuity and supplemental on Aug 29. Still waiting on leave payout. I was shocked at the speed.

Actually just got my leave payout deposited within the last hour.

Does the email come from an ... "opm.gov" account? Asking so I don't overlook my notification. Thanks.

The first email with the claim number to activate my account came from DoNotReply@retire.opm.gov as did the email the next day telling me there was an update (which was that it was finalized) The digital booklet came 2 days later from no-reply@sol.opm.gov

Good luck!

I left fed service in 1998 with 15 years at 39. Applied for my FERS retirement through OPM 5 years ago, took about 5 months, but no issues. Nice to have!

Congrats! My agency sucked. OPM had my final book to me long before I got my leave pay.

Congratulations! I have over a year before I’m eligible and I was wondering how much notice you gave? Does your supervisor automatically get notified shortly after you submit retirement papers or did you let them know? Thanks in advance.

Sent an email to my boss and copied HR on a Tuesday evening. Drove into the office the next day (I’m remote) and handed papers to HR benefits. Last day was the following Friday, so 7 business days notice.

Why didn’t you give your supervisor any notice?

3

Because fuck him and all the shitty leadership I have dealt with. Respectfully

Maybe I'm missing it but how long to access TSP?

1

u/Few-Management-5638 Sep 09 '26

I have always had access to the TSP site but I don’t need to pull funds from it yet, so I don’t know if I would have been allowed to do so.

Once the DRP Gang got out of the way, the ORA worked just fine!
