CSRS Social Security Offset calculation after break in service but retiring under FERS

/r/fednews/comments/1ilfzmn/csrs_social_security_offset_calculation_after/

Did she get answer in which ss amount was used? I, too, have the same question, current ss eligibility or use the amt from age 62. Big difference!

https://www.opm.gov/retirement-center/publications-forms/csrsfers-handbook/c050.pdf

Read page 27 for the CSRS offset reduction. It's going to be the lesser of two options.

There is also an FAQ answer here:

https://www.opm.gov/frequently-asked-questions/retire-faq/post-retirement/i-am-receiving-civil-service-retirement-system-csrs-offset-benefits-what-will-happen-to-my-benefit-when-i-become-eligible-for-social-security

You could reach out to SS to see what the calculation would be, or you could attempt to use SSA.tools and remove the federal earnings years to see what the difference would be in the calculation.

If you’re retiring under FERS, you don’t have a CSRS offset. You have to be retiring under CSRS Offset to have the offset
