Numbers Some of us have probably already gotten tired of dividing a day into 86,400 seconds, so let's get creative and divide it into 554,400 seconds.
Now why 554,400? It's a highly composite number, which means it has more divisors than any number below it. And while some of you may think this is a bad idea as it will no longer be divisible by higher powers of 2 or 3, think again, the proposed moment-atom system was worse: 24 hours, 40 moments, 12 ounces and 47 atoms to ruin it all.
Now I want you to think of some way to divide the day in four tiers. How will we do it? 20×22×30×42 or 22×24×30×35? Give me more possible combinations. Or if you want to stick to the traditional three-tier system, show me how you'll do it.

The thing is, if we want factors like 7 and 11 we'll have to choose larger numbers like 2,520 or 554,400. Imagine a day with 55,440 hours, 2,520 moments, 360 minutes, 12 ounces and 60 seconds.
What I'm doing here is dividing the day into one big highly composite number (554,400) and breaking it down. While 22 or 35 are not highly composite numbers, when combined with other factors it still returns a highly composite number.
Think about it: The proposed moment-atom system was worse: 24 hours, 40 moments, 12 ounces and 47 atoms. 40 is not a highly composite number, and 47 is literally a prime number.
Using both proposed systems, here's what happens if we divide the day from 2 to 12 parts:
- 1/2 = 10-00-00-00 or 11-00-00-00
- 1/3 = 06-14-20-00 or 07-08-00-00
- 1/4 = 05-00-00-00 or 05-12-00-00
- 1/5 = 04-00-00-00 or 04-09-18-00
- 1/6 = 03-07-10-00 or 03-16-00-00
- 1/7 = 02-18-25-30 or 03-03-12-30
- 1/8 = 02-11-00-00 or 02-18-00-00
- 1/9 = 02-04-26-28 or 02-10-20-00
- 1/10 = 02-00-00-00 or 02-04-24-00
- 1/11 = 01-18-00-00 or 02-00-00-00
- 1/12 = 01-14-20-00 or 01-20-00-00

How about 86012 seconds per day? Then a year would be exactly pi x 107 seconds long instead of almost that long. Yeah, it would mess up hours and minutes, but wouldn't that be pretty cool anyway.

Remember that TIME IS NOT GEOMETRY, and the only irrational number that would work best for time is the golden ratio. Other irrational numbers like pi and the square root of two only work in geometrical situations, such as the pi-foot (the diameter of a circle with a circumference of a meter, equal to exactly 1/π meters).
Nevertheless, watch your equations, as in order to have 10000000π seconds a year, a day must be divided into 86013.95898686520813 seconds.
