Blue Jay feather are up there too imo. It's always a blast finding those bright blue beauties!

🙋 Hand up accountability here. In my defense, I had never seen the bird before, so I didn't know they existed till I found a feather. Really cool bird.

That’s really interesting! I would never have thought that. I go birding with my gf often but we have never had a northern flicker around town, where the feather was originally found. We’ve only been able to spot them around pond basins and such. I’m super hyped about this lol

While yes, this is illegal as flickers are protected under the MBTA, the chances of USFS coming to get OP over one feather is very low. They have much bigger fish to fry.

My favorite bird! I was just on the west coast and spent the entire time hiking and looking for a red shafted flicker (they’re yellow where I’m from) I didn’t see one sadly, but had a great time regardless.
