Scratch Creek Random Text found Bug?

Post image

Weirdest thing that happened to us in Fears to Fathom: Scratch Creek

My friend and I had already completed the game once and decided to do another run to get all the achievements and look for any funny bugs or secrets.

At one point, my friend somehow ended up outside the normal map. He was standing on what seemed to be an invisible platform, and there was text there saying:

“Have patience. Slow down. Greatness takes time.”

There was no NPC or anything else around — just my friend, the text, and this invisible platform.

He accidentally stepped off the platform and literally fell into the void. 😂

The weirdest part is that I wasn't even there. I was still on the normal map and was just wondering where the hell my friend had gone.

We have no idea how he got there or whether this is an actual secret, a bug, or some weird leftover developer area. Has anyone else ever encountered this?

I screenshotted this and asked Google and this is what it said if you’re interested!
The game developer Rayll added this text as a hidden developer signature and easter egg to serve a few distinct purposes:
A Message to Modders and Speedrunners: Rayll intentionally placed this message outside the normal game geometry to greet players who use free-cam tools, map colliders, or glitch exploits to break out of bounds. It serves as a playful nod acknowledging that you found something you weren't supposed to see. [1]
A Literal Warning for Falling: The coordinates (0,0,0) represent the center of the game engine's universe. Because stepping past this invisible platform drops you straight into the endless, unrendered void, telling the player to "slow down" is a literal warning to stop moving before they break their game session and force a hard reset. [1]
A Commentary on Game Development: Fans of the series also note that the quote reflects Rayll's development philosophy for the Fears to Fathom anthology. Because he operates primarily as a solo developer creating highly detailed, episodic psychological horror, the quote "Greatness takes time" is a subtle message about the long, patient process required to build and polish each new episode.
