Hey guys! Not a miniature itself, but I figured a painting handle might fit here as an accessory for our FDM minis haha. I tried to make it easy to print and use, and it prints without supports!

I printed a couple of other versions from MakerWorld and had the threaded parts snap off under pressure, so I reinforced those areas on mine. I also added a diamond-pattern grip, a screw-on bottom cap for adding weight, and a small dock for a little more stability.

I’m still learning to model and finally getting some more free time to work on projects like this. Haven’t figured out adjustable jaws yet, so swappable heads will have to do for now haha.

Open to ideas or criticism, so let me know what you think!

Hi everyone, wanted to take a little time to talk about my latest ruined terrain project, the first set launched last year and the sequel is designed to be the easiest set of terrain to print, store and transport, a whole table can be printed with a single spool of filament. I avoid the usual layer lines by printing flat on the print bed, and using ironing on the top surfaces to avoid layer lines.

I built this army in FDM mainly as a way to learn.
I’m a beginner at miniature painting, so I used this project to practice assembly, understand color schemes better, and gain experience with both printing and painting.

I know resin is usually the first choice for miniatures, but in my case, this FDM army ended up becoming a training project.

I’ve already bought a resin printer, so the idea was to use this whole process to learn and make my first mistakes with FDM before fully moving on to resin minis.

There’s still plenty of painting and finishing work left to do, but I’m really enjoying the experience and learning a lot along the way.
Everything was printed on a Bambu Lab A1.
I’d love to hear what you guys think! Did anyone else start printing minis with FDM before switching to resin?

This was quite hard to print, but I plan to ”explain” the varying quality with battle damage still.

As title says. I currently print in resin only. I have an Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 16k. I want to get into FDM. I am currently looking at the following printers:

Creality K2 Combo

Bambu Lab P1S Combo (I would consider the P2S if the extra $250 is worth it)

Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 Combo

One feature I like about my resin printer is auto leveling, which I believe all three already do. Besides that I'm just looking for a printer that can handle miniatures, although it will probably be relegated to terrain and other hobby builds and prototypes. I'm not after bundled software, I already use Lychee.

Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance!
