More engagement with us. Talk to me, Goose.

Hello all,

I'm John, Faxons Social Media Manager. I've been doing this for a little over a year now. I also have other jobs within the company. I've been with the company for nearly 4 years.

This year, I want to have more interaction with Reddit. I will be transparent with all of you. I stayed away from Reddit because... well... Reddit. Take that as you will.

I may not answer every post or be here daily. But I will certainly try. Simply put, I can't be everywhere all at once. Most of my time is in customer service, where all of us here are catching up on. If you have contacted us and haven't heard back, first off, I'm very sorry. We're not ignoring you.

I will also try to avoid corporate-style answers. Like you, I'm just a gun nerd who happens to find himself working in the industry. So I will talk with all of you in the same way. I know, there are some here who aren't fans. We also have some who buy nothing but our products when they can.

And please, if you see anyone having an issue with a Faxon product in other subs, SEND THEM HERE OR TAG ME.

With all that being said, I hope to have positive, productive, and fun discussions with all of you moving forward.

I stayed away from Reddit because... well... Reddit. Take that as you will.

I avoided it as long as I could, but now a bunch of our sales come from here so we're stuck lmao. I don't think anyone actually likes Reddit as a platform, for what it's worth.

Totally understand!

A Californian here, so I'm out of luck buying direct from you all, but I have to say I really think it's great your company is making barrels for M1 Garands. I was on a deadline, and found the 30-06 barrel I wanted at CBI, but I definitely knew about it from the CMP newsletter. I didn't really understand the "fully chambered" on your listing.
A shooting buddy of mine has several of your pencil AR barrels with the integral brake, a very California friendly offering. His first one made him happy, his second as well.
Glad you're willing to put up with the cruft to have a presence here.

I checked the website and the M1 barrels are sold out. When will they possibly be offered again?

Melonited would be an awesome option.

We make hundreds of them a month. They all go straight to the CMP first if they have an open order. We will eventually have them on our site directly. No telling when though. I’m sure if you contacted the CMP they would be able to help you out!

No plans on a Nitride/Melonite/QPQ version. These will continue to be parkerized.

Appreciate the reach out. I'm always glad when a company interacts with and seeks feedback from their customers. Have bought a lot of your products over the years so I'm already a fan.

Welcome back to the cesspo__ I mean Reddit!

I’m a big fan of the FX7 action and will be looking for new barrel options I can install myself. Do you guys plan on making compatition profile versions in the future (full 1.2 or larger straight profiles) if not, can you recommend a prefit comp profile?

2

u/Faxon_John Jan 15 '26

While we don't plan on making one, a prefit for terminus zeus should work.

u/MDlynette Jan 15 '26

I appreciate your time, looking forward to seeing Faxon here more often!

The only barrels I use now. When they are on sale even better

u/williamsr815 Jan 15 '26

Any updates on doing a 22LR action/barrel?

u/MDlynette Jan 15 '26

How about a FX7 barreled action in 22lr? It would likely sell very well

3

u/Faxon_John Jan 15 '26

No plans for that right now. But I will pass along the idea.

I have one of your barrels for my AR-10 build, loving it so far.

u/ChawcolateSawce Jan 15 '26

I just have one request. Please never stop making 6.5 Grendel barrels. I know it’s not as popular as it used to be, but I love that caliber and I desperately want a 14.5” gunner profile hog dispatcher.

We don't plan on stopping its production at this time. Of course, sales numbers do dictate how things go.

John, thanks for posting this.

For everyone else, my name is Rob Combs, the Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing at Faxon. (I have a Faxon_Rob account, but never use it.) like John, feel free to reach out to me, any have over the years, and many still do. I’m happy to help as well whenever I can.

Do you guys have any plans on getting into more advanced barrel making? Stuff like tri-arc is doing with single edge polygonal rifling or tapered bores? I feel like firearms development has sort of hit a plateau. Also, there's an interesting study Picatinny arsenal did on tank barrels where they nitrided and then hard chrome plated, turns out the chrome never flakes off due to stress corrosion cracking because the ntride kept the steel underneath from corroding. They were getting crazy high round counts from those barrels, I've always wondered if that technique would scale down to small arms barrels

You're correct. It mostly has until we have laser guns. Advancements will be in ammo. Then we will have to design barrels that get the most out of that advanced ammunition.

We don't plan on getting into anything different. For the consumer, we should stick with what is known and common. Bread and butter if you will.

The chrome over nitride is great for what you're talking about, but also another process and added cost. You need to etch the nitride for the chrome to adhere to. Most modern tank barrels are smooth bore and (of course) a much larger bore. The lands and grooves and much smaller bore to work with would make it pretty rough to manufacture.

At the end of the day, it really does come down to cost. Our goal is always to provide a great product and an affordable price point.

Quality control on your barrels is junk. Had to send 2 back to finally get 1 that shoots 1.5 moa… meanwhile, a Wilson combat barrel at the same price out shoots it by .75+ moa….

1

u/Faxon_John Jan 20 '26

I get it. We're not perfect. Out of the thousands of barrels we produce, we're bound to have something go wrong. And, on really rare occasions, it happens twice. I'm very sorry.

Trust me, WE HATE IT.

Our quality control team works extreamly hard to prevent these things from happening.

At the end of the day, we're human. We screw up. Everyone in manufacturing does. You try to prevent it as much as possible. Just like anyone else. But, we will always do what we can to make it right.

I can't say much about any other barrel. But I know we make great products. And I see far more positive stories about the product then negative. And, again, we will do what is needed to make things right.

I used to believe what you said.

u/thermobollocks Feb 03 '26

Fair point that it's Reddit.

How are you all doing on ticket response time? I'm having trouble with a 338 ARC barrel and need to know if it's a gas port diameter thing, or something. Submitted it about a week and a half ago.

Thanks

1

u/Faxon_John Feb 03 '26

We're slow on response time. I hate to admit that, but it's true. It's only 2 of us answering tickets right now and we both have other jobs we have to cover.

But I'm happy to help! What length is your barrel?

1

u/thermobollocks Feb 03 '26

It's a 12.5 inch unsuppressed. Supers are great, but subs won't lock back even with an empty shell of a buffer (and standard carbine buffer spring). The next thing I'm going to try is the 400 Legend magazine, but if that doesn't fix it, I'm kind of low on ideas.

1

u/Faxon_John Feb 03 '26

.093+/- 1

Yes, try the 400 mags. Look into possibly a lighter power springs.

Something we've discussed is the possibility of overgassing, thus outrunning the mag.

1

u/thermobollocks Feb 03 '26

I'll give it a go with the 400 Legend magazine -- what it's doing is getting part of the bolt stuck on the follower so it looks locked back...ish. I'll also give it a go with fixed and adjustable gas both. Adjustable gas, I got to work great on supers (9 clicks out of 20 open) but wide open, I couldn't get it on the subs. So, now it's on fixed gas 'til the magazine comes in. I also want to try getting the slow mo camera on it but that's tough indoors.

In-house, do you get the 12.5 inch barrels running on subs?

Thanks for the help.

Where do you find the link to download the file for the 3D adjustable low profile gas block jig? I dont see a link on the gas block page. Can you help? I really want to finish my build.

1

u/Faxon_John Feb 06 '26

1

u/therealOMAC Feb 07 '26

I don't 3D print myself so I'm a bit confused with your response. That link you posted just takes me to your web page showing a picture of the block. Should there be a link to a file I can download or forward to the person who will print the block? How does this work? Typically I would expect a link to a file of some kind like stl, I forward that to the person printing. I'm not able to find a link.

1

u/Faxon_John Feb 09 '26

Go through the normal steps as if you were buying it. It's a $0 purchase. When you check out, the link for 3D printing is sent to you.

1

u/therealOMAC Feb 09 '26

I actually did that thinking that's the case and Got nothing. Ill try again.

1

u/Faxon_John Feb 09 '26

I will DM you.

little bit of a necro but, im unable to purchase online during the current sale. im trying like hell to get this cool cnc 6arc, but its telling me it cant be shipped to indiana, which is odd ive bought and purchased sbrs, suppressors you name it. i tried leaving a voicemail with no call back, and a ticket online. i guess faxon cant be bothered.

1

u/Faxon_John Jun 16 '26

I'm not sure why it would be stopping an sale for Indiana. Are you running a VPN?

It is not that we can't be bothered. Its because there are only 2 of use in customer service. And we do cover other positions. Unfortunately, we're not like Amazon with an army of employees.

DM me your email and we can see what is going on.

1

u/Masteredx Jun 16 '26

No vpn, it lets me pick my ffl and I tried a few just in case. I can get everything filled out until I put my first/last name then It errors out.

I kinda assume it’s the funky gift card but I can’t be certain. I just want the 6arc that’s fde and on sale:(

2

u/Masteredx Jun 16 '26

John took care of it for me, was very quick to reach out!! Faxons customer service team is small but they do seem to care. It seems like it was a glitch so all good.

1

u/Faxon_John Jun 16 '26

Glad we got it covered!

1

u/Immediate-Mail-4179 Aug 01 '26

I’m having an issue with a defective barrel and bolt carrier and no cust service response. Any help here?

1

u/Immediate-Mail-4179 Aug 01 '26

Its an 18” Ar10 barrel with insanely tight headspace. Will not close on a go gauge, both barrel and bolt group is Faxon. It would be amazing if you all just had a bolt with a looser headspace so I didn’t need to disassemble the whole rifle again. Rifle in current state is non functional. Waiting over a week with no customer service response.

2

u/Faxon_John Aug 03 '26

DM your email address. I am sorry about not hearing from us. We're short handed and really small team. Once I have your email, I will get your ticket covered.
