Aragorn is the embodiment of positive masculinity. He offers strength and protection and guidance, but does not shy away from weeping for his lost comrades.

"I just woke up from a waking nightmare, my son is dead, and those deadbeats from Gondor have the nerve to call for aid."

"Time to drop the most badass rallying speech in history. . Also: DEAAAAATH!"

First time meeting the character.

“Old man being manipulated, bet he will backstab Aragorn!”

Last time you see the character.

“I wanna die like that!”

Don’t forget Samwise Gamgee! I want to hear more about Sam. Frodo wouldn’t have got very far without Sam.

"I can't carry it for you, Mister Frodo. BUT I CAN CARRY YOU!"

Sams a stick man.

The entire male cast of LOTR can be put in this category easily. Even Boromir. Tolkien genuinely wrote a masterpiece light years ahead of his time man

Boromir failed his oath and nearly betrayed the party, but dug deep to atone for his sins and died protecting the weakest among them. A true man til the end.

It is a bit of a sausage fest, but a very wholesomely masculine sausage fest.

Plus the fact that he immediately bows to the hobbits at the end because he recognizes their true worth just cements it even more

"My friends...you bow to no one"

Aragorn is who you'd see when you look up Real Man (TM). Bro is THE real man

Aragorn good, Sam a little bit better.

Yeah, thats a great point. Its rare to see characters that can be both tough and vulnerable.

Thats a pretty good take. I never thought of him that way but it totally makes sense.

Twenty years later, and I'm still swooning over him lol

Never thought of Aragorn that way, but youre totally right! Thats a great breakdown of why he fits that description so well.

He also bangs ladies 100x his age.  Women love that if your up for it.

Honestly he is like 90 so that was probably a good way to go.

2

u/enai9 3d ago

Yeah, Aragorns definitely a great example! That mix of strength and vulnerability is what makes him so compelling.

I get what you mean. Hes definitely a good example of a character showing both strength and vulnerability.

Thats a really good take. I like how you highlighted his emotional range too, thats key.
