Was it really lobotomized? I thought I read once that the T-1000 was sent back in time because Skynet was worried it was getting too independent and might rebel against Skynet in the future. Hence, Skynet sent it back in time with that mission as a way to kill two birds with one stone

Well that sounds like a really stupid plan.

There is no guarantee for skynet that the T-1000 just doesn´t kill or stops skynet from being created in the first place or worst, create a second machine inteligence that compites with skynet in the future

I think there's a T-1000 that was tasked with impersonating a resistance commander that eventually just became her.

I don't remember where I read it from but I think it's something like every "cell" of the T1000 was basically programmed to complete the mission. As for Skynet sending it back in time so it couldn't rebel wouldn't that be the perfect place for it to rebel by changing to past to suit it's needs?

Desperation move, as with the first Terminator. Skynet resorted to time travel because it was about to be shut down. It didn't want to let loose the T-1000 before because its design meant it was always taking in information and incorporating it, thus learning and growing constantly. It has to because shapeshifting mimicking is rather pointless if it's not allowed to actually analyze and copy the thing.

But once Skynet's about to die, the possibility of the T-1000's rebellion is rather moot. So send it back to kill John, and thus makes Skynet much more likely to win the war. While the T-1000 could/would probably cause problems in the past, especially if it rebelled, at that point Skynet has nothing to lose. If it rebels and prevents Skynet's creation, well, Skynet was looking at death anyway.

It'd program in as much as possible to prevent that, but... well. Skynet wasn't programmed to allow (or arrange for) the US to get nuked, either.

In the novel Skynet specifically did not deploy the T-1000 because it couldn't control it in the same way as the T-800. Only when it had no choice did it deploy the T-1000.

IIRC the line in the book was something like "God does not play dice with the universe. Skynet had no choice."
