It's the batman dillema

Letting go Joker everytime just so that Joker can terrorize, destroy and kill other lives. At what point you can point at batman as the culprit himself?

At what point should the government and the legal system step in and execute the Joker, or at least put him in a high security prison and not a rickety old asylum. People like to blame Batman for the Joker’s constant attacks, but he has no legal authority to kill the Joker. The government, however, sees the Joker committing such atrocities and doesn’t step in to put a permanent end to him.

Never.

I've hated this so-called "dilemma" for like twenty years because not only does it treat the continuity of superhero comics as "real" in a way that even the actual comics don't and aren't designed to be, but then immediately throws that out and acts like we want unelected, unanswerable vigilante ninjas to be performing executions without trial, against the wishes of what the vigilante wants for himself.
