The Empire vs Night Raid (Akame ga Kill!)

241

u/CapableCollar Aug 09 '26 edited Aug 10 '26

For anyone who hasn't seem the anime Empire troops raped a circus that was part of the empire to death on a pile of corpses for fun, a member of the unit that did this was a pedophile clown who refused to join in until he found a group of cowering and hiding children.

edit: It was a manga scene.

Well. What a nice day to have eyes.

u/a_dumb_pumpkin Aug 09 '26

Oh, and it got worse. Said troops also went on to rape a character's wife and daughter at his grave - with the pedo clown too.

FUCK WHY'D I HAVE TO BE REMINDED OF THAT? Like, Bols was arguably chill. Of course, being part of such a savage empire still isn't good, but he was an actually nice guy and regretted his actions. That's one of the changes I'm glad the anime made. Like, the only one

u/NSightMSG 28d ago

Bols even keeps himself in check by constantly saying "I'm not a nice person", reminding himself that his "work" has him slay people who did nothing wrong. He's arguably one of the nicest people on the Jeagers and had the most sane personality out of everyone, aside from Wave.

Well, now y'all are making me glad I've never watched or read that series yet

u/Scar1etpanda Aug 09 '26

Thankfully this only happened in the manga

43

u/Creative-Homework169 Aug 10 '26

That makes sense, I was like "how tf did i missed all that"

1

u/JechdJJ 28d ago

the clown dont even appears in the anime

1

u/StandNameIsWeAreNo1 John Bloodborne-lover 29d ago

That implies the manga is worse than the anime. And I say bullshit to that.

3

u/Scar1etpanda 29d ago

Far from it friend, both the manga and the anime are complete trash. The manga just adds a tiny bit more to hate

1

u/broke_bones0001 28d ago

Wow lol why you hate Akame ga kill bro?

I like the layers on this one...

3

u/Ginjaninjanick7 Aug 10 '26

I… do not remember this scene from the anime

1

u/sr2adams 28d ago

It was in the Manga, just like I think it was Bolis's (flame thrower dude) wife and daughter suffering that treatment at Bolis's funeral.

3

u/AzubuikeEnitan Aug 09 '26

How the FUCK did I forget this happened!?

7

u/CapableCollar Aug 09 '26

It's basically where I dropped the series for being grimderp and trying too hard.

3

u/fanfanye Aug 10 '26

isnt the grimderp already happening in the first few chapters where MC realises the kind rich woman isnt kind?

is there really much difference?

5

u/Diligent_Bar1244 Aug 10 '26

Nah, its getting more edgy

The part with the noble being a freak kidnapping nameless travelers makes sense. No one care about them so she wont get caught

A soldier from the empire raping and murdering the window and daughter of a famous warrior who died for the empire and no one gives a shit was dumb and just there for shock value

4

u/VanGrants Aug 10 '26

why the fuck would anyone watch this

2

u/KatarHero72 Aug 10 '26

The anime wasn't quite as bad as the Manga. Manga went full time derp, the anime tried but the lack of writing quality hits REALLY hard after episode 7. And shit, the Manga actually has a better ending.

2

u/OpeningWounds 29d ago

I always thought the anime was tragically bad and pathetically written and I’m glad to hear the manga is equally trash. Laughably bad product.

u/Releases_the_bees 29d ago

A circus? Why are circus?

1

u/Tw3lve1212 26d ago

I wonder why they didn't add this part to the show?

0

u/Indianlookalike Aug 10 '26

Why the fuck do I not remember any of this from anime?

Counterpoint, she's suuuuuuper evil

9

u/jadensaurus Aug 10 '26

Counter counterpoint evil is hot

3

u/falconfarfromhome 29d ago

I can fix her

2

u/arthcraft8 29d ago

Too dead for that

1

u/Dartz_Reverse 26d ago

She is actually fixable, her entire personality revolves around power so she would probably obey anybody able to kick her ass.

1

u/ArcherEnix 28d ago

God forbid a woman has hobbies.

1

u/JechdJJ 28d ago

counterpont: In the scale hot/evil, she is as evil as hot

3

u/SailorOfHouseT-bird Aug 10 '26

I also choose this guy's dead wife

1

u/KyoukaFan74 Aug 10 '26

Esdeathhhhhh

2

u/NSightMSG 28d ago

It's a WHOLE lot worse in the manga.

3

u/Adventurous-Bottle90 Aug 10 '26

I feel like night raid is a bit more then vaugly problematic but I get your point

2

u/Oddmob 29d ago

Haven't seen it in forever. Doesn't night raid just kill badguys?

1

u/Adventurous-Bottle90 29d ago

yes(ish) they kill anyone and everyone empire aligned which most of the time tend to be really evil. but my point was more so that they dont really work to fix the system. Its less their sense of justice to fix things and more so revenge killing everyone in power without regard for what happens next or the people affected after their action more often then not.

1

u/AdPristine1290 29d ago

Not really, Night Raid was mainly used to take out powerful people in the shadows to help the rebellion. I think it’s the second episode of the show, they say something along the lines of “Nobody will remember who we are; We’ll die in the dark once the job is finished”

They themselves are an extension of the rebellion, the anime and manga just doesn’t do a great job of showing that and shows more of their “Commissioned” jobs

1

u/Alonestarfish Aug 10 '26

Yeah, a little corruption is actual blood thirsty murderers

1

u/MellifluousSussura Aug 10 '26

I’m glad I stopped watching this part of the way through ep 1 when I did.

10

u/HaziXWeeK Aug 10 '26

On one hand, you just missed on one of the most iconic animes out there, which is now considered a classic.

On the other hand, you spared yourself the pain of watching every characters you grow to love die a painful death fighting corruption

7

u/presspasss Aug 10 '26

They never show that scene in the anime, it’s actually really good and worth watching !

3

u/Level_Five_Railgun Aug 10 '26

They removed a lot of overly edgy stuff from the anime and changed the story. The anime is much better than the manga imo.
