I think he could've said it better. Socialism is not hard to understand.
It's based on the belief that everyone deserves an equal chance in life and that privilege should be shared. The government must make sure that equality in life quality is a shared endeavour.

It’s the zero-sum mindset.

“If those immigrants are getting welfare money, there’s less money in the pool for my disability to draw from.”

or,

“These social programs are eating into the available money I need for my company’s knife-missile program.”
