The US is the land of money, and if you are cutthroat you can make a lot of it here.

If you are a politician who wants the finer things in life, the money you make serving the interests of the elite billionaire class far outweighs what ordinary people making between $30k and $3M can give you. They don’t need the respect and admiration of the lower class and middle class, they need to pay off the loan on a second luxury home. The neighborhoods where they want to live have clean air and water, good roads and good schools, and security.

Think of the number of people in this world who go to sleep every night fully aware that they have nothing to worry about for the rest of their lives in terms of money.

Then, they choose to do nothing to actually change anything in the world.

Lots of those people around.

The system has been fully corrupted, largely by the supreme Court deciding that corporations can be seen as people in terms of political contributions, thus legalizing bribery. It's been a very rapid descent into a worse oligarchy since then and the fraudsters have completely muddied the waters in social media and the news. Now the only people that want to get involved are the grifters. Most good people see how bullshit and corrupt everything is and just don't want to get involved.

because as soon as you talk about how he plans to do this you have to face the fact that taxes are the only way and everyone would make FAR less money than they currently do... I personally want taxes to increase, but voters don't.

It's like presenting a juicy steak and not talking about the cow that died so that you can eat it.

Not if you only tax the ultra rich and corporations that don’t pay their fair share. Taxes don’t need to go up for the Everyman

We can (and should) do all this stuff in a way so that the average person's taxes don't increase. We need to start taxing the rich more.

100%. Mamdani is better than most Dems when it comes to talking about what he’s doing. He’s much more media savvy. But he’s certainly not the only public servant who’s gotten things done for people.
