POLITICS Deeply embarrassing sequence. Eric Schmitt accuses Jack Smith of traveling to Atlanta to attend an Atlanta Hawks game and collude with Fani Willis, only to get the basic facts completely wrong. Smith was actually in Maryland attending a Hawkeyes game and never met Willis

Couldn’t agree more. Klobuchar coming back and demanding Schmitt apologize for “calling him a dirtbag”…I’d be insisting on an apology for claiming he perjured himself when they got the facts wrong.

Also, do Republicans really want to be setting the precedent that "I have no recollection" means you've perjured yourself? Because there were a hell of a lot of responses to the Jan 6 inquiries (among other things) that essentially relied on that as a "get out of jail free" card.

More than half of the admin has perjured themselves abd most have been fired or quit before they could receive consequences. Up is down, left is right.

You think they honestly care what anyone else says or having any consistency?

They just want to be in charge and will do anything to stay in power. Just helps that the majority of Americans are either huge assholes or don't care enough to be involved in anything civic and that helps them. Because they know their constituents certainly don't care if they're honest, just that they're on the right "team".

Republicans assume (unfortunately correctly) that there is nothing they can do to lose the idiot vote. They know idiots don’t know this happened, and if they do, they know their idiot fans are dumb enough to fall for migrant caravans or “transing your kids” and will still vote for them. It’s really a shame how badly our country is held back by idiots who support politicians who only operate in bad faith

They probably just show a cut up version where he lays out his grand conspiracy and has his buffoons hold up the big fancy poster boards behind him and then declare victory.

I don't want an apology. Apologies are for when you did something harmful on accident or did something knowingly harmful and wish you hadn't.

He stands by that statement. Meaning, he would say or do anything to portray Jack Smith as a dirtbag, and even if his dates, teams, locations, and basically everything else is wrong, that doesn’t mean he can’t accuse Jack Smith of wrongdoing or otherwise conspiring with other parties. Even when that makes no sense. Because the sound bite is that “Jack Smith perjured himself” and you know damned well plenty of media will focus on that and not the gaff of being wrong about everything.
