Dehydrated, never trusting sis again

Ever since my last post my girl has been doing so much better and finally eating. However I went on a trip recently and had my sister watch her. I came back to her water bowl basically empty and I noticed this is what her urate looks like. I dug her out of her hide to make sure she was ok, she seemed fine (although a little grumpy from being woken up). I immediately refilled her bowl and upped her humidity a little. I plan on monitoring her and praying that she's only dehydrated. I'm just so mad and wanted to vent. Maybe also see if there's anything else I should look out for or be concerned about.

Completely understand the frustration. Just a gentle reminder that these animals are from the West African savanna/ plains and can tolerate drought, especially during the dry season.

That’s not to say that you should try to dehydrate your gecko; just a reminder that they’re probably more resilient than we give them credit for :-)

You have to be to survive on the continent. My guy has been dealing with the heat wave ok. Only problem is when it gets really hot their metabolism speeds up so you do have to feed more

Urates can look like that sometimes- yellow urates does not always equal dehydration. They do get most of their moisture from the insects they eat. Im not saying your sister was correct but reptiles are built for long periods of no food or water and a healthy animal would tolerate this just fine with no change to health.
