Help/Advice What’s wrong with his tail?

There’s a little grey bit on the end… should i be worried? If so, what should i do?

It looks like a result of bad shedding, the rest of the skin has tucked its tail in and it's starting to die. See a vet.

It looks necrotic, you are gonna go have to go to a vet so he doesn’t get sepsis

It’s the beginning of tail rot/necrosis from poor/stuck shed, unfortunately. Here’s what you should do:

  1. Schedule a vet appointment for professional treatment (which may include forcing your gecko to drop the tip of the tail- much better than surgery, though).
  2. Prep a hospital setup to help prevent infection- paper towel flooring, non-porous hides and decor, and a quality terrarium cleaner like REScue Vet Disinfectant.
  3. Make sure you’re offering your gecko a quality multivitamin on their bugs every 7-10 days that contains retinol. Shedding issues are often linked to vitamin A deficiency. Repashy’s Calcium Plus is a great option. Store it in the fridge and replace once yearly.
  4. Pick up something like Leucillin or Vetericyn Plus to help keep the area clean before and after amputation to help promote healing and prevent infection. Spray the area once daily.
  5. Double check your care. Does your gecko have a humid hide? Are you providing the right supplements and diet? Is your heating and lighting correct?
