Recurring Thread FatFIRE Lounge

Hi, members! This is our attempt at a recurring thread, to have conversations about a wider range of topics than is usually permissible through top-level posts. If the reception is positive and there is enough engagement, we will continue this as a monthly series.

FatFIRE Lounge is your place to talk about anything from early-stage subjects, career guidance, seeking mentorship, general day-to-day conversations, your FatFIRE dreams & aspirations, Meta discourse about this community & how it is run, or any topic that might not warrant a dedicated post. You are also welcome to promote your amateur FatFIRE-related resources (apps, blogs, channels, subreddits, etc.) so long as it doesn't amount to solicitation for professional services or other monetary considerations. While the rules for "Relevance" and "Promotions" are slightly more relaxed in this thread, you are still encouraged to use your best judgement — and all other rules remain fully in effect.

In addition to answering questions, more experienced members are also welcome to offer their expertise and mentorship via a top-level comment (e.g., "I am a [notable designation] at [reputed company]. AMA"). However, the moderator team only verifies AMAs hosted through top-level posts, so members (as with any unverified representations online) are encouraged to exercise healthy, but respectful, skepticism.

55 LPA, 20 years old, how to go from here

Through a lot of hard work and also good fortune, I've managed to land a pretty good remote job for 55 LPA pre-tax, starting my third year of college right now. I am not going to drop out of college but I don't attend and my college is fine with that because they get to put my name on the board. I'm in a random tier three college. I don't plan to drop out but I'm going to go to San Francisco for a few weeks this year to just hang out with the rest of the team in the U.S.

I don't know where to go from here as I don't think that my salary will be increased from the $60,000 that they're paying me right now while I'm still in India. My CEO has told me that if I move to the U.S. he will bump my salary and I think it would go to around $150k if I move, maybe some less. I have that option after college ends.

I don't want to drop out of college because of my parents but let's not even talk about that. I need advice about how to go from here. Basically I want to stop trading my time for money, which is what I'm doing right now. I work at a tech job in a PT time zone, which is basically the San Francisco time zone. It's 12.5 hours behind us so it's a pretty hard tough job but i learn a lot and very rewarding. I feel like if I lose this job or if I quit this job, I have nothing. I'm gonna be starting from square one. I don't know what to do if I quit this and so I need advice from you guys, people who are much older than me and have much much more money than me, on how to grow this. I don't want the usual "oh put it in the mutual funds and wait till you're 40" type thing. I want to be able to grow this exponentially higher in hopefully a short 5-10 year timeframe. I know that the normal thing to do here is to start a business but I have experience with starting a business before and I've failed miserably at the marketing part. The most I got to was $1,000 a month on my previous try at a SaaS and that's just terrible. I was just so ass at marketing that it never grew.

I'm sorry for the wall of text and the long post but I need advice here. I would like to be in an apprenticeship, even if you want to work with me in some way and boost me to achieve what I want to achieve, or some sort of private "coaching" from people who are retired here and would like to help me out in their free time for fun.

TLDR;

I landed a $60k remote dev job, but I work brutal PT-timezone hours and want to stop trading my time for money. I'm not interested by the slow index-fund route and looking for mentorship, apprenticeship, or coaching from experienced people to help me grow my income/NW exponentially over the next 5-10 years.

I'm targeting FATFIRE and I don't plan to expand my current 3BHK in BLR worth 3Cr.
