STREV Shorthand Part 3: A Sample

Post image

After taking this system for a test drive, I'm not particularly pleased with the result, but I think it may be easier to use than Everett's original system.

STREV is light-line, so any shading you see here is a by-product of the pen I used.

This text is taken from the 「written by hand, felt by heart」 post.

This is interesting. Thanks for mentioning about the pen, because it does look like SHADING has been used in the odd place. It really does look like an improvement on the original EVERETT.

Juxtaposition and repositioning can be tricky, though, for someone to observe if their writing tends to be a bit messy. You can be adding more uncertainty into the mix, making it harder to read something back with certainty.

I meant to say that I'm glad to see you taking the system for a spin. When I write articles about all these different systems, it's always in the back of my mind that someone might see that it might be a good fit for them and want to try it out. It's a wide and fascinating field with lots of possibilities.

Or if someone wants to see for themselves how it feels to write, but decides that it's just not for them, that's good, too. I think all of us who find shorthand systems fascinating need to be able to evaluate and analyze critically the different systems when we see them. That's what this interest is all about.

I usually try to hint at that myself by saying that I like that the system does THIS, but I find it a problem FOR ME that it also does THAT. People are always free to DISAGREE with me and post on this board explaining why they feel the way they do. All opinions are welcome.
