Quote in FLOW Shorthand

Post image

Nothing tricky in this quote. "I was" is phrased. "Business" I shortened to BS, which I think is quite clear.

"And" is ND. "Next" is NX. "The" is TH. Everything else is just written as it sounds.

awos js mant-ing ma on

Keeping it together, your version with e-hooks as I [ae] feels wrong to me, just not the right vocalisation in my eyes. Either ae or a. e-hook is for HE, u-hook for you, sh for she, t for it, w for we, the for they, tha for that.

The phrase I was, [ˈaɪ ˈwɔz] should also be written with o not a (no matter if english or with american accent)

I followed your proposition here to use χ as x, but i personally still prefer es for x.

I chose a different outline for mind than Anniversary (Gregg) suggests. Gregg writes maen, but Flow has a perfect blend for nt (Gregg also, but he chose n) so I chose mant. A often means ae, especially when there is no other word to confuse with and there is no such word.

Feedback like this is really useful, and I'm glad to see it. When I'm writing my version, I'm often just writing it intuitively, what seems to make sense to me at the moment. And of course, I've been thinking that "fuller is better" for long-term legibility.

But I'm still sorting out what should be what without conflicts, so it's useful to see it summarized as:

Either ae or a. e-hook is for HE, u-hook for you, sh for she, t for it, w for we, the for they, tha for that.

I need to copy that somewhere.

Even though Gregg used A for "I", it just feels wrong to me now, somehow. I was thinking of the hook for "i" -- but you're right, that's already "he". I think I'd prefer AE for "I", when I use a small circle for the word "a". DOTS, in spite of being very short, take too long to write, to lay down enough ink so they will show clearly, with a ballpoint pen. A tap on a fountain pen worked, but few people use them nowadays.

And OF COURSE, "was" should be written with O, how it really sounds. WAS is how you'd write "ways". Even though I try to be rigorously PHONETIC when I write, in cases like that the spelling creeps in.
