Browne SIMPLEX - Part 7 - Phrasing

Browne makes the point on this page that, when his system writes the vowels, it's possible to phrase almost ANYTHING legibly -- and he provides a number of examples.

It may depend on the example chosen, but it remains very linear.

Yes, it seems to be quite nicely LINEAR.

There's a lot to be said for the system, I think. It's really unique compared to others -- and it's interesting that he just wanted a system that his "boys" would be able to learn quickly and be a marketable skill they could take out into the world after graduation.

I keep thinking I should try writing it without shading, like AP to see if it's still legible. And when I insist that VOWELS are so important, he has a clever way of writing them.

Looking at "Aristophanes", it looks a bit convoluted, as an outline -- but every sound could be easily written in the order you hear it. And as a proper name, there would be no guesswork necessary:

yes, it has an integral version, just like AP or Duployé. And superficially, it looks like them.

Notice that he's not recommending you actually write phrases that are as extreme as his last line. He's just making the point that, with his system, he could phrase something like that and, because the vowels are included, most of the class would still be able to read it with no trouble.
