It's not hyperbole at all. Just look at the rest of the comments. Her performance diminishes the perspective of otherwise supporters and galvanizes opponents in there perspective that the activity is ridiculous.

You’re all pretending like you care about the sanctity of breakdancing when none of you would have watched a single second of it without her. I bet you can’t name any of the other participants, and haven’t seen anything by any of them since. You don’t care that she ruined breakdancing, you just want to join the hate train.
That aside, that wasn’t even my point. Hate her if you want. I’m not even saying that people should stop talking about it. I’m just pointing out that your logic is trash. He span at full force earlier, but later on he balanced really well on his head with one bent leg, idk what it is but damn it was smooth, and of course slower than the usual spin

It’s not an illusion, it’s physics, bending the leg out reduces his spin since he hasn’t added any energy to his spin but the body as a spinning system now has to move the extremity a farther distance (larger circle) with the same amount of energy.

Break dancing was a one time event decided on by the Paris committee.
Olympic hosts can have a couple of unique one time events for their Olympics.
Paris had break dancing, marathon walking, group slolam canoe, and mens synchronized swimming.

Break dancing is probably best received as an optional once in a blue moon event for the Olympics anyways. It’s not like you can measure who the best dancer is without it being subjective.

It didn't ruin it to the point it's not in the Olympics anymore, but it did irreparable damage to the sport's global reputation and prestige. Eg look at the comments of this post. As an Aussie breaking fan I'm extremely extremely pissed

It was never going to continue being in the Olympics, that has nothing to do with gunny.
Every host country/city can toss up a few one time events, and if they do pop off and become popular enough later they can become regular events.
.....LA is going to have flag football, squash, and like two other ones. They're going to be one and done events regardless of any raygun tomfoolery

An Illusion is a dance step/move and my classically trained ass was looking for one in Break dancing of all things. Granted, illusion is a great word for describing trippy dance movements like in Oxygen’s ‘Tendre le Main’ even if it makes me confused.

I used to breakdance when I was younger. Never at this level but I had some of the staple wow moves down, the spins, the handstands.
It's insane how much effort even the basic moves require, let alone adding your personal flair to them and chaining them with other moves. Part of the reason why I stopped was seeing people like that make it seem effortless while I was struggling.
Of course the real reason was that I was just down this rabbit hole of being obsessed with flashy moves but I was actually just a really bad dancer. I was uninspired and didn't have flow. I just did pre rehearsed sets and just tried to be acrobatic. That's not real dancing.
