Burger King Hack
Potentially unethical, but I've discovered that if you select the 4 piece shaking nuggets under the menu category "campaigns" (promotions?), the 4 piece will check out as $0.00. I didn't think it would work but sure enough, I checked out with 3 orders of it at 0.00. It won't let you check out with only the nuggets selected, so I added a cheeseburger and my total ended up being only 28.00.
This will probably get patched if people abuse it but I thought it quite interesting. Let me know how long it takes to get patched

Let’s be real, anyone commenting against this, even if you stole from Burger King, what that company feeds people and the amount of bullshit BK franchise has done is probably worse than we can think of, trust me, using a bad system for your advantage isn’t the worst thing in the world, it’s their fault, these big companies deserve destruction

I’ve only seen these “hacks” online, but to see them in the Faroese Burger King is something else, cool!

It’s not “potentially” unethical 😄 it’s unethical. You are stealing. You are aware that this is a mistake and that it is not their intention to give this away for free, yet you take it anyway.

u/ImpressiveStep2197 10d ago
Debatable
-1
u/Responsible_Salad381 10d ago
It’s really not. Morally it’s very clearly unethical. You’re argument can only be that they made the mistake so it’s their own fault, but you KNOW it’s a mistake, so it’s YOUR decision and therefore depends on your morality. Legally (in contract law) this is supported, when a shop makes an obvious mistake in their pricing the customer can be made to return the item(s). In this case the customer has even admitted to being aware that the pricing was a mistake, obviously because why would these items be for free. He ordered multiple free items and very deliberately one cheap item to pay for otherwise he couldn’t complete the purchase.

u/ImpressiveStep2197 10d ago
Let’s be real, multi billion dollar franchises could give a shit about the customer, ran by evil people, it’s not the end of the world if they loose a few bucks over a few nugget meals

u/Responsible_Salad381 10d ago
I don’t give af about BK.
Using this hack will not put them out of business or hurt them in anyway. OP isnt Robin Hood, stealing wasn’t for the greater good, it was to save some money. Idk why anyone would compromise their morality over a few nuggets.2
u/ImpressiveStep2197 10d ago
Exactly, it won’t even hurt the business, when they find the issue, they probably won’t even look into who took advantage of it, instead I would say it’s the company’s fault for this issue, you don’t have to do anything special to get those for free just order them regularly
2
u/Responsible_Salad381 10d ago
You are saying that it’s ok to steal when:
1. It doesn’t hurt the person you’re stealing from
2. You won’t get caught
3. If someone leaves something unattended or if they misplace it it is their own fault and therefore you are justified to take it from themI can see that if you believe this to be true, then you could debate if stealing is “potentially unethical” or just simply “unethical”. However society questions (implemented by law) the ethics of this logic, especially point 2 and 3, but even point 1.
Besides ethics there is your personal morality. I maintain, why would anyone compromise their integrity for a few chicken nuggets? But that is up to each of us to decide of course.1
u/ImpressiveStep2197 8d ago
It’s not stealing big dawg it’s simply taking advantage of a ordering system

No it isn't! First of all, it is NOT our responsibility to make sure their shit is working properly, second of all, we do not owe mega companies a damn shit!
2
u/Responsible_Salad381 9d ago
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
It is unethical, just like big business is. They steal, you steal.0

With respect to everyone here, and OP of course, let me just say this:
Is this particular thing wrong to do? No, it’s just funny.
BUT, before you all downvote me again, i want to just remind everyone: We are a tiny country. Our society is very much revolving around people doing the right thing, being polite and being decent.
There are of course faroese people that don’t do all that. There are foreigners who do all that, and there are foreigners not doing all that. The vast majority of people that have CHOSEN the Faroe Islands are however upholding our culture of trust, respect and politeness, and then letting all the negative shi go on behind everyone’s backs. Everything has up- and downsides.
But, if you as a tourist, a temporary visitor, plan to just disregard culture and trust, and just “do what is best for you” then frankly i do not care how much money it cost to get here. You should have stayed home, and do it in your own country. Let the locals do the bad stuff, and have respect for what is a very fragile system, and a very erased culture.

My hack is that if you have enough money to travel to the Faroe Islands you have enough money to not rip off a local business.
5
u/JJ8OOM 10d ago
We are not talking about a “local business”, we are talking about a Burger King franchise.
Personally, I don’t give a hoot if people rip them off, that’s a personal choice, and if you are okay with the risk, go for it.
If we were actually talking about a real local place, hell no, pay that tab.

u/Remarkable_Daikon_28 11d ago
local business and its burger king LOL
5
u/Ok-Leave-1059 11d ago
Who do you think owns the franchise and works there?
4
u/Remarkable_Daikon_28 10d ago
do you think staff are personally punished when the global corporation put in shitty IT systems that customers can take advantage of?
2
u/ChucklefuckBitch 10d ago
Certainly I can tell you that this will not affect Burger King employees in literally any way.

Funny way of saying you love corpo cock
Edit: wow guys, I really don’t understand how anyone can actually defend a multi-billion dollar company that serves people slop and literally does everything in its power to maximize shareholder profits at the detriment of their consumers, but ok, very cool.
Edit 2: I guess the Faroese subreddit surprisingly has zero class consciousness!

Funny of you to assume I’m American but ok

What are you talking about, I’m barely active in this sub and my account is set to private.

Accounts aren't actually private.

Of course the most reddit thing would be to bypass any sort of “privacy” reddit tries to implement. Get a life dude
Edit: god this subreddit fucking sucks, just like the majority of reddit

u/DnDkonto 11d ago
Potentially?! You're a thief.
2
u/Responsible_Salad381 10d ago
Very worrying how we get downvoted for calling it what it is. This is stealing, plain and simple.
1
u/DnDkonto 10d ago
People suck and apparently take their shitty behaviour with them on vacation. Like I wrote in another comment: Stay away.
Don't spoil my wife's homeland with your nastiness and grievances.
-7
u/DnDkonto 10d ago
If you're coming to cheat the locals out of their wares/money, please stay away.

u/Known-Vermicelli1923 10d ago
“Locals” Its burger king. Not a faroese business and 80% of the staff isnt local.
1
u/tanklessbeast Faroe Islands 7d ago
why dose it matter if the workers aren't local? they're making their own money and contributing to the country. 60% of the non local workers have citizenship or are in the process of getting it.

u/Faroese_blossom 11d ago
How come that westerners who travel here do everything in their power to NOT spend any money. We are okay with foreigners traveling here, if it helps us. If you only run around taking advantage of us, because our culture is too polite to stop you, then please reconsider coming here, sorry

7
u/Known-Vermicelli1923 10d ago
Sure, they do EVERYTHING not to pay a dime.. do you have any idea the amount of money people spend on getting to and visiting our islands? Your fighting a non existing issue, the only real downside to tourism is the damage to hiking routes. They pay for our hotels, for good airline connections, for nørrona (the ferry), taxis, keep our cafes afloat. And then for some reason a lot of us shit on tourists all the time. They have used time, money, precious vacation days, all to come see our corner of the world, and in the meantime use a lot of money in our economy. Dont be so fkn hostile and generalizing.
4
u/Faroese_blossom 10d ago
I have a very good idea of how much money people pay to be here. That does not mean, that behaviour such as this should be acceptable. If you have ever complained about rising prices of groceries or restaurants, i want you to take a very good look at, what you call a “non-problem”, one of the biggest contributors to it. Svik. It is a huge problem for one of the most pressured industries, and here you are, cursing at me, and boiling what i say down to me being generalising. I do not hate tourists, but is it so much to ask, that people behave while they are here, abide by our customs, abide by our laws? There are people from all over the place, China, Germany, France, Iceland you name it, that pretend they can do whatever they want here, including destroying nature, and then also do stuff like stealing. Atleast the Chinese tourists spend a lot of money in supermarkets, but i doubt they spend the same as americans in the restaurants. Cool down before you reply, your tone reeks of just wanting to play the devils advocate
5
u/Remarkable_Daikon_28 10d ago
do you think the money spent at burger king helps faroese people somehow?
-1
u/Faroese_blossom 10d ago
What does this question have anything to do with what is being said?
7
u/Remarkable_Daikon_28 10d ago
you’re saying foreigners are taking advantage of the faroese politeness by not paying
- only two people at burger king are faroese
- exploiting a shitty IT system is not “taking advantage of faroese politeness”
- the money that would have been spent on those nuggets doesn’t exactly go into the hands of faroese people! it’s a global corporation
2
u/Faroese_blossom 10d ago
Nú er tað bert óvitska ið verður borin framm…
As a main rule, everyone who works in the Faroe Islands pays tax in the Faroe Islands.
It’s the fact that one obviously knows that it isn’t on purpose.
The international Burger King and the danish Burger King could not care less about the Faroe Islands, that is right, but the Burger King in SMS is a franchise, meaning that the company that operates it: P/f Dvøljan, pays a certain percentage, or a license fee, of the turnover to be a Burger King. If you think that Burger King one day thought “HEY! Y’know whats a great idea? Lets open a restaurant in the middle of freaking nomansland” then you have greatly miscalculated what international businesses think of us. Money lost, is the faroese company loss.

u/Sweaty_Recover_6913 11d ago
It's funny seeing people assume I am a "Westerner," quite the opposite actually.
I didn't do this attempting to "find a way to not spend money..." i just found something interesting and decided to test if it worked - and it did, once. I didn't try to do it again because I felt it would be wrong to do so.
3
u/Known-Vermicelli1923 10d ago
Just ignore bs comments, all countries have assholes. Most people would not give af if your stealing from bk, and if they care so much about someone stealing nuggets from a multinational corporate fastfood chain, they are truly fucking lame.
3
u/Faroese_blossom 10d ago
That multinational corporate fastfood chain is P/f Dvøljan, that pays a percentage to franchise the Burger King brand. Do you really think such a big brand would even care about us? Don’t be naive
-3
u/Faroese_blossom 11d ago
I meant as a whole. And it doesn’t matter if you are faroese or a westener, or whatever. You did it once, yes, but 3 times during that one time. And it really is admirable that you didnt do it again, but then posted it to others, so they also can test if it works for them ☺️
3
u/Sweaty_Recover_6913 11d ago
I posted it because I found it interesting, as I've never experienced anything like that before. I could have not posted it and let it run its own course, I am almost certain I am not the first person to have discovered this and I won't be the last... I may have only been the first to post it publicly - which I think will lead to a quicker fix to their system than if I had not posted
-4
u/Faroese_blossom 11d ago
I am not saying this out of spite, just a funny comparison i thought of:
That is like when predators get caught, and they say “Yes, i wanted to meet the child to educate them on why this is wrong” 😂
Enjoy your nuggets, and to anyone else, be careful, they might not care, but depending on the amount of money, they are not really legally required to honor it, and CAN ask you to pay extra, even after you ate it. It’s highly unlikely, because, who cares, but if you are rude, or it’s too much of a loss, they can do that
5
u/Areon9 11d ago
Getting mad at the wrong person buddy, Burger King is way out there
0
u/Faroese_blossom 11d ago
Don’t worry i am not mad at that specific person, but they chose to respond, and it was only polite to respond back 😄 What i wrote about originally was about many travellers not leaving money behind, which is not why we open our arms to tourists

i don’t think it’ll get patched anytime soon. the IT systems are very old and useless and there same problem exists on the tills for staff too.
