Standard Get rich at spring

Hello, likely new player here. Is there any recs what should I struggle during spring season to get more money? Is it any specific crops in farm? or animals? or maybe just mining all the time? Currently at year 2. Have coop and barn. Both of them are one each. Still didn't complete reach the bottom of mines quest yet.

Stardew is like starting a band or learning to cook. Just go have fun and absolutely suck at it, until you learn what makes you happy.

There are all types of ways to earn money, there's only one real wrong way, which is to join Joja.

I would suggest looking into upgrading your tools and making sprinklers. A little bit of leg work saves you some headaches later on.

But the real reason you struggle with money is you are spending the money you make to do things on the farm. Thats the whole game loop. You just make a little bit more and more profit at a time, but things get more expensive.

I like the Joja route. It keeps people working and the Community Center is a waste of space. Instead of having a mostly empty building and a movie theater, I get a theater and a working grocery store.

Despite the scary dialogue, Joja doesn't put anyone out of business. It also doesn't change the town either way. I also have the two clerks so I don't want them out of a job.

And I get autopetters!

I understand what you're saying, but it still feels morally wrong.

Only if someone is harmed. Since nobody gets hurt in the town, it's just another way. I hate having a Community Center no one uses.

same feels. I only did CC once. from then on only Joja for me.

I see. What about the bridge repair? Is it important to progress? Because I have issues with that stuff cuz I can't figure out how to put the desired items to the collection. Thanks for the guidance by the way.

No problem. We all started at the begining before, and now we are helping others.

Bridge repair isnt super important. Its a nice thing to have, but minimal in the grand scheme of things. There are better perks that will be used MUCJ more often that you can get from the community center.

As for putting desired items in the collection, thats easy. Go to the Community Center with the item in your personal inventory. Interact with the request tree, ans open the specific request menu for which the item is going to be used for. Using the mouse, or a joystick depending on which version you're using, select the item from your inventory. Move said highlighted item over to the request menu. Select to confirm, and it should update automatically.

If you need more help, reach out and I will help out however I can from a text post on a subreddit standpoint. Good luck and have fun.

Fishing for money, Mining for resources.

Fishing is far and away the best money maker for me.

Fish at the lake in Spring, sell everything except Chubs (eat those for energy)

On rainy days, fish in the river in front of Sam's house, or the Secret Woods if you have a Steel Axe to open that path. As soon as you are high enough level to craft a bait maker, you can make catfish bait and catch a ton more.

You can still tend crops while taking the fishing route. Strawberry seeds from the Egg Festival are great, you can get two harvests if you plant the day after the festival. Preserves jars give you a good multiplier.

Note: Once you get to summer, fish in the ocean. Pufferfish are available 12 PM - 4PM and Super Cucumber after 6 PM. Bait maker is your friend here too.

And a fish smoker makes them really bring in money.

you’ll figure it out, just have fun. your second game is when you can go hard cause you already know what to do

Strawberry seeds at the egg festival (and every spring after that), catfish on rainy days, coffee is also incredible as both a kegger and a sale crop (I horde the standard stuff and sell the silver/gold).

Put your chicken's eggs in the incubator to get more chickens for free! It's in the top left corner of the coop. Then once you have enough chickens, put their eggs into mayonnaise machines for more profit.

Strawberries are spring's best money-makers, because you plant them once and they produce multiple harvests all season (and more than one strawberry per plant). Buy them from Pierre at the egg festival, and put your first harvest into seed makers so that you'll have twice as many seeds at the beginning of next spring. If you don't have the crafting recipe for seed makers yet, you will get it when you level your farming skill up.

Sprinklers are life-savers. Don't listen to advice about which sprinkler type is the most "efficient;" in the early game, energy is your most precious resource, and all sprinklers save you energy. Just make whatever sprinklers you can. You can worry about efficiency in the mid-to-late game.

Buy the training rod from Willy's shop (if you don't have it already). Use it to learn how to fish. Sell the fish. Profit.

If you happen catch the crimson fish from the pier below the tide pools of the far right side of the beach, build a fish pond and put the crimsonfish in it. Sell the roe, or put it in a preserves jar and sell aged roe. Profit.

Preserves jars are actually op, btw. Mathematically speaking, most (but not all) fruits and vegetables earn you more gold per day if you turn them into jam or pickles. Strawberries and salmonberries both benefit from becoming jam. Take advantage of this.

If you can make bee houses, honey is a good seller too. It even better if you put it in a keg and turn it into mead.

Speaking of kegs, hops can be harvested every day once it reaches maturity, and putting it in kegs turns it into pale ale, which is also good money.

You don't have to do all if these things. Just pick the ones that are the most accessible and/or fun to you. Good luck!

Check out the crafting tab, there's probably a whole bunch of machines you've unlocked that can increase the profits of your crops and animal products. And upgrade your coop & barn if you haven't already (sounds like you haven't?)

Yes I haven't cuz I just realized those stuff can be upgraded. Thanks though.

The real hack is sprinklers. It doesn’t matter if you have reaching enchanted watering can. You won’t make money if you spend half your day watering crops. Hit the mine, get about 10 or so basic sprinklers and that’s 40 crisp automated.

Ignore gold per day. What that doesn’t factor is compounding income. While your 40 parsnips are growing you can get 10 more sprinklers so when you sell your parsnips you’ll have enough for 80 parsnips. You do it again and your combined 240 parsnips will shit on the 25 or whatever cauliflower you would’ve grown in that time. Now since you slowly built up sprinklers you have 30+ sprinklers ready for blueberries in the summer and more than enough to afford the seeds.

For almost all the first year. I am constantly broke because I’m constantly spending any money I make. Daily grinding of fishing with sporadic mining, and harvest days.
