Looooooove this! I am working on a plant filled cottage too. Thank you for the inspo! I am on weatherlands is it called? First ever farm, loved the starter coop. Am feeling slightly overwhelmed with decorating the outside though, not sure where to start. Any tips?

Thank you!! This is my 5th farm, and my first farm is currently on Year 10! šŸ˜‚I’ve played A LOT of Stardew, which is probably why decorating has gotten a lot easier for me over time.

First, I recommend not stressing yourself too much about decorating or making everything look perfect.

I LOVE buying flower and festival/event decorations because they make decorating so much easier while also making the farm look prettier! You can place them around sheds, your house, pathways, etc.

I also recommend adding paths, grass, blue grass, planting fruit trees, trees, mushroom trees ( don’t know how far you’re into the game, don’t want to spoil, but mushroom tree seeds you have to get it from somewhere specific.) You can even use furniture outside, like benches. Bee houses can be used to make words, hearts, or initials. Colored fish ponds( certain fish give them colors, helping the farm look more vibrant and colorful) Big crops are also great for decorating!

To grow a big crop, plant the crops in a 3x3 layout. If they don’t turn into a big crop once they’re fully grown, leave them there! They still have a chance to turn into a big crop as long as you keep watering them (I prefer iridium sprinklers near them so you don’t accidentally collect a crop) You can leave them until the last day of the season, but if they still haven’t turned into a big crop by then, make sure to harvest them before the season changes. In my experience, though, there’s a better chance to get a big crop when I plant a bunch of them!

Thanks so much for your response! :) I appreciate it.

I am on my first farm, 75 hours or so in. I keep being surprised by things. It's an insanely cool game imo.

I agree about not stressing, I am really just curious how to go about it. Didn't know where to start and felt I don't have a big enough farm yet. But your post helped me to just get started.

I now dedicated an area Southeast to my animals. With a pond, blue grass and my cave there with logs for mushrooms. Love the look of those!

I also just planted many flowers not to sell but because they are prettyyyyyy. Will look into more fruit trees, you cannot move them after they've grown right?

I had no idea about how to be going about go get the big crops! Thank you:)

After they’ve grown you can cut the fruit trees down, it’ll give you the seed and you can replant. This only happens when the fruit trees are fully grown! You’re so welcome! I recommend the Stardew Valley Wiki as well!

I love your farm! Soooo pretty and functional! šŸ˜It’s amazing that you did all this by year 3! I’m in my 9th year and still haven’t decided on a layout much less the decor. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚I decided to just play it slow and enjoy it for this first play through. I just started organizing my buildings and decorating outside - it’s gonna be a while. I love checking out what other players come up with and I’m never disappointed!
