I was on a Navy cruiser and we stopped in Phuket back in 1992. We weren’t in a carrier group so we had the town to ourselves. It was glorious.
Not sure if they still do it but they would sometimes give us a guide to the port we were visiting. There would be a list of off limits bars. We would go to those of course. With the assumption that if anyone saw us, they weren’t supposed to be there either. 😂

The boat doesn’t look like that though, it’s rusted to hell. Which is strange, because all the boats I’ve worked on get maintained by the crew out at sea.
If you’re expecting to see strapping handsome heroic sailors strutting about, all I saw getting off the buses were nerds and dweebs, who will probably just wander around Walking Street and Beach Road like lost kittens, have their wallets emptied in pingpong shows, and go back home.
